Marion Cotillard rarely disappoints on the red carpet, and her looks at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival were no exception.
A Striking Appearance at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival
The then-40-year-old French actress stepped out to attend a photo call for her 2016 French film, From the Land of the Moon (French: Mal de pierres, literally “disease of the stones”), held at the Palais des Festivals.
It was filmed in France and Switzerland during the summer of 2015 when Marion Cotillard was 39. She celebrated her 40th birthday on September 30, 2015.

From the Land of the Moon: A Tale of Gabrielle’s Journey
The English title comes from an excerpt from the 2006 novella “Mal di Pietre” by the Italian writer Milena Agus on which the film is based: “Her whole life she had been told that she was like someone from the land of the moon…” In the context of the novel, the French title “Mal de pierres” refers to the protagonist Gabrielle’s kidney stones.

Marion Cotillard, who portrays Gabrielle in the film, was joined at the event by her co-stars Louis Garrel and Alex Brendemuhl. It was her first French movie in four years following the 2012 romantic drama Rust and Bone (French: De rouille et d’os).

Grungy Elegance: Marion Cotillard’s Edgy Denim Look
The award-winning actress traded her typically girly look for an edgy, grungy style by donning a distressed denim jacket dress by Belgian fashion label Filles à Papa.

The French actress paired the thigh-grazing dress with stylish Mulberry shoes, enhancing the outfit’s rock-and-roll vibe while giving her a noticeable height boost.
Marion Cotillard, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2008 for her portrayal of legendary chanteuse Edith Piaf in “La Vie en Rose,” kept everything else about her look simple.
She casually wore her brunette tresses down in tousled waves and sported minimal makeup, including just a hint of blush and a swipe of pink lipstick.

Marion’s Mulberry shoes are from the Fall 2016 collection and feature yellow python panels, perforated toes, studded ankle straps, wide vamp straps with large buckle fastenings, about two-inch platforms, and 5.5-inch block heels with lug soles.

Transforming into Hollywood Glamour: Marion’s Red Carpet Moment
The ever-chic French beauty made sure to put a more glamorous display for the premiere of her movie, an adaptation of the novel by Milena Agus of the same name.
She posed on the red carpet with her co-stars and the film’s director, Nicole Garcia.

Marion later channeled old Hollywood glam and demanded attention in a gold metallic column gown by Christian Dior.

A Gold Dior Gown and Giuseppe Zanotti Sandals
Marion, who made her Hollywood debut in the 2003 American fantasy comedy-drama film Big Fish, looked the epitome of class and elegance in the floor-length gown, which featured long sleeves, a cowl-neck back, and a thigh-high slit that showed off some flesh.

She finished her look with a sleek, side-swept ponytail and deep red lipstick—a far cry from her look during the photo call earlier in the day!

Marion, who wears a shoe size 8 (US), showed off her feet in black patent leather Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.
These sleek sandals have ankle straps with logo plaques, back-zip fastenings, tapered bands across the open toes, and 4.75-inch stiletto heels.

These Giuseppe Zanotti sandals are now on sale at Farfetch, marked down from $795 to only $596!
