This delightful addition to Fox’s family comes almost two years after bidding farewell to his beloved dog, Gus, who passed away in April 2021.

The Back to the Future star paid tribute to the loyal pooch by sharing a photo on Instagram and expressing his fondness for Gus in the caption.

Fox credited Gus as a faithful companion throughout his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease, describing him as a “wonder dog” in his memoir, No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality, which you can buy on Amazon.

Dogs are believed to have a significant impact on one’s well-being. They bring joy and offer a wide range of health benefits. Simply having a dog around can reduce stress levels by boosting dopamine and serotonin, making them invaluable for managing anxiety and depression.

Michael J. Fox has been open about his struggles with Parkinson’s Disease. The 61-year-old actor was diagnosed with the neurological disorder in 1991 when he was just 29 years old.

During the promotion of his new documentary STILL on Apple TV+, Michael opened up about the various injuries he has experienced as a direct consequence of living with Parkinson’s.

“I broke this shoulder — had it replaced. I broke this elbow. I broke this hand. I had an infection that almost cost me this finger. I broke my face. I broke this humerus,” Michael shared with Variety. “And that sucked.”

During a CBS primetime special titled “The Pet Project,” the cherished 61-year-old actor shared heartfelt insights into the remarkable role Gus played in his life.

Specifically, he highlighted Gus’s invaluable support during his quest to regain mobility following a spinal cord surgery in 2018.

Upon returning home in a wheelchair, Fox was greeted by Gus eagerly waiting at the door. The faithful companion circled the wheelchair, emitting gentle woofs before sitting directly in front of Fox, conveying a reassuring presence. Fox fondly recalled saying, “It’s going to be okay,” as he felt a deep sense of comfort and support emanating from Gus.

For Fox, Gus symbolized the unwavering loyalty and connection that dogs bring into their owners’ lives. He acknowledged that despite the challenges of living with a chronic illness, having a dog opens up one’s world and counteracts the tendency to isolate oneself. Their innate ability to empathize and be present fosters resilience and offers solace during difficult times.

Michael J. Fox’s introduction of Blue showcases the enduring bond between humans and their canine companions, highlighting the immense joy, support, and strength they bring into our lives.
