From A Wrinkle in Time to Euphoria: Storm Reid’s Breakthrough Roles

Storm Reid’s breakout came with A Wrinkle in Time (2018), where she held her own alongside Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, and Mindy Kaling—a role that earned her the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance.

She later gained wider recognition as Gia Bennett in HBO’s Euphoria and continued to expand her range through projects such as When They See Us, Don’t Let Go, The Suicide Squad, and The Invisible Man.

Even in her early red-carpet years, Storm expressed that same creative energy through fashion—favoring bold colors, confident silhouettes, and statement shoes that hinted at the polished, risk-taking style she’s now known for.

Storm continues to expand her résumé with diverse projects like One Way, Missing, and The Nun II, as well as her recurring role in HBO’s The Last of Us.

Amid her growing Hollywood success, she remains grounded—balancing her acting career with studies at the University of Southern California. That balance between ambition and authenticity also reflects in her fashion choices, which blend youthful confidence with a polished, down-to-earth sensibility.

Family, Roots, and Support Behind the Success

Storm Reid credits her parents, Rodney and Robyn Reid, for their unwavering support and guidance throughout her journey.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 1, 2003, she is the daughter of personal trainer Rodney Reid and stylist and costume designer Robyn Simpson.

Storm Reid returned to the red carpet for the premiere of The Invisible Man at TCL Chinese Theatre on February 24, 2020, in Hollywood, marking one of her most glamorous style moments yet. While her lavender Miu Miu gown shimmered with crystal and pearl embellishments, the look divided opinions—beautiful in color, though some felt the ornate detailing verged on excess.

In addition to Storm, Rodney and Robyn Reid have three older children — a son, Josh, and two daughters, Iman and Paris.

Storm’s mother, Robyn, balances her work as a stylist and costume designer with family life, while her father, Rodney, has Jamaican and African American roots.

Storm Reid’s Height, Heritage, and Fashion Influence

Very little is publicly known about Storm’s father, Rodney, who reportedly remained in Georgia while her mother relocated to Los Angeles with their daughters. Storm has credited him for her tall frame—she stands 5′6½″ (168.9 cm) and wears a US shoe size 8.5.

In March 2023, Storm Reid flaunted her legs at the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards 2023 in a dazzling silver minidress by Jonathan Simkhai.

Crafted in Italy from metallic leather, these shoes feature lustrous crystals that provide a brilliant sparkle, while the sleek stiletto heel and signature red lacquered sole highlight the statement-making pair.

Storm’s passion for performing emerged early—by age three, she was already dreaming of being on TV.

Encouraged by her parents, she began taking acting lessons in Atlanta. At nine, her mother and sister relocated with her to Los Angeles to support her pursuit of an acting career.

Storm has often said she feels “put on this earth to tell stories and inspire people.” That sense of purpose guided her early success—after moving to Los Angeles, she booked her first TV movie, A Cross to Bear (2012), setting her Hollywood career in motion.

Her parents remain her biggest supporters. In a 2019 Teen Vogue interview, she shared that they’ve always prioritized her happiness over fame.

A Creative Partnership with Her Mother, Robyn Simpson Reid

Storm and her mother, Robyn, share a particularly close bond—often appearing together at events and collaborating professionally through their production company, A Seed & Wings Productions.

For the Creed III premiere on February 27, 2023, in Los Angeles, Storm Reid delivered a sleek, modern take on red-carpet tailoring. Dressed head-to-toe in Prada, she balanced structure and shine—pairing a cropped kid mohair jacket and matching trousers with a sheer embroidered mesh top, silver platform sandals, and the label’s brushed-leather Cleo bag.

Producer, Advocate, and Fashion Trailblazer

Beyond acting, Storm is building a career as a producer and storyteller, focusing on projects that reflect real-world issues.

In an interview with Bustle, she credited her mother and business partner, Robyn, for guiding her through the industry and instilling the courage to be unapologetically herself.

Before stepping into more producing and advocacy work, Storm showed her daring fashion instincts at the 2023 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards—balancing edge and elegance with a confident, modern look.

Storm uses her platform to inspire and advocate for change, describing herself as an “active learner” rather than an activist.

In a 2020 appearance on STEVE on Watch, she reflected on the Breonna Taylor case, expressing how it deepened her commitment to raising awareness about racial injustice.
