Storm’s impressive range and skill were further showcased in her portrayal of Gia Bennett, the younger sister of Zendaya’s character in the HBO hit series Euphoria, following her well-received performances in two episodes of the critically acclaimed Netflix limited series When They See Us, and the film, Don’t Let Go.
Diverse Roles and Continued Success
In 2019, Storm joined the cast of the superhero film The Suicide Squad. The following year, she starred in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful science fiction horror film The Invisible Man while filming the popular teen drama series.

Staying Grounded Amidst Hollywood Success
Despite Storm’s incredible success in Hollywood, it has not gone to her head, as she remains down-to-earth and humble.
Her grounded perspective on stardom and taking up college education at the University of Southern California is a testament to her strong work ethic and determination.

A Supportive Family Background
However, Storm knows she did not get to where she is today alone. She credits her parents, Rodney and Robyn Reid, for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout her journey.
Read on to discover more about Rodney and Robyn and their pivotal role in nurturing their daughter’s talent and helping her achieve her extraordinary success.
Embracing Her Roots and Family Influence
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 1, 2003, Storm Reid is the daughter of Rodney Reid, a personal trainer, and Robyn Simpson, a prominent stylist and costume designer.

In addition to Storm, the couple has three other children: a son named Josh and two daughters, Iman and Paris, all older than Storm.
Storm’s African American roots blend her father’s Jamaican and African American descent and her mother’s African American and European American ancestry.
Her mother, Robyn, is a self-assured and accomplished woman who leads a busy life juggling work and family. When not spending quality time with her daughter and family, Robyn is at the gym or engages in various activities.

In contrast, very little is publicly known about Rodney. He reportedly remained in Georgia while Storm’s mother relocated to Los Angeles with their daughters.
Although Storm rarely discusses her father in interviews, she has previously credited him for her height, saying, “I had a fear of being too tall because my dad is very tall, and both my sisters are very tall. And they’re drop-dead gorgeous, but I just didn’t know if I, as Storm, wanted to be 6 feet tall, ’cause I feel like that’s pretty tall.”
Storm Reid’s height of 5ft 6 ½ (168.9 cm) is taller than the average for women in the United States, approximately 5 feet 4 inches (162.5 cm). She wears a shoe size 8.5 (US).
In March 2023, Storm Reid flaunted her legs at the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards 2023 in a dazzling silver minidress by Jonathan Simkhai.

A Mother’s Sacrifice for Her Daughter’s Dream
Storm’s passion for performing was evident from a young age, and her parents recognized and encouraged her talent.
At age three, she expressed her desire to become a “stuperstar” and appear on TV. Her parents enrolled her in acting lessons at a performing arts school in Atlanta.
As Storm’s interest in acting grew, her mother and sister boldly decided to relocate to Los Angeles from Georgia when she was nine to help her pursue her dream of becoming an actress.

Storm felt a deep sense of purpose, saying, “I feel like I was put on this earth to do this. Not be an actress, but to tell stories and inspire people.”
The risk taken by Storm’s mother paid off when the young star landed her first television movie role in 2012’s A Cross to Bear, playing young Erica shortly after the relocation. A momentous achievement set her on the path to success in Hollywood.
Parental Pride and Support
When asked about her parents’ thoughts on her Hollywood career in June 2019, Storm responded to Teen Vogue, saying, “They’re really proud of me. And that feels good.”
Storm shared, “My mom has always said, if I didn’t want to do it [acting] anymore then I could just quit, but I haven’t wanted to. I feel like that’s everyone’s outlook. As long as I’m happy, that’s what matters to them,” revealing the unwavering support and understanding she receives from her family.
Mother-Daughter Duo: Beyond Family Ties
Robyn and Rodney are often present at Storm’s events, but it’s no secret that the young actress and her mother have a close relationship.
Storm frequently shares cheerful dance videos on social media with her mother, Robyn, showcasing their tight bond. Whether they’re killing time on set or hanging out at home, the duo loves to share fun clips of themselves choreographing impressive moves.
But their relationship goes beyond just being family members. Storm and Robyn are also business partners in their production company, A Seed & Wings Productions, and the young actress have aspirations to direct and produce in the future.

Storm’s broader mission as an actress, producer, and storyteller includes exciting and uplifting initiatives such as animation, movies, and television that reflect real-world issues.
Speaking about her mother’s influence on her career, Storm wrote in Bustle, “My mom is also my business partner. She’s guided me through all the opportunities I’ve been afforded in my career. We have conversations about our production company, how to look at a contract, and how to work with my accountants, attorneys, and management team.”
Instilling Values and Making a Difference
Storm shared in the same Bustle article how her mother instilled admirable principles and traits in her, and one of these is courage, which she cherishes.
According to Storm, “One of the most valuable qualities she’s instilled in me is the courage to be unapologetically myself. I don’t let anyone make me feel small. I don’t let anyone tell me I don’t belong in certain spaces.”

Activism and Using Her Platform
The budding star also shared her views on using her platform to lift people, saying, “I’m not really comfortable yet calling myself an activist, so I like calling myself an active-learner, active-thinker, active-listener. I try to use my platform to lift people up. I don’t think we all necessarily have to have the same opinion, but I don’t want to waste the opportunity to share mine.”
During an episode of Steve Harvey’s Facebook Watch show, STEVE on Watch, in 2020, Storm spoke about the tragic case of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman shot and killed by Louisville police.
She said, “When I look at Breonna Taylor, I see my mom. I see my aunt. I see my sisters. Those are people that I genuinely, deeply care about that could lose their life just for being a Black woman or a Black man, and that is something that I feel like we all have to come to terms with, but it’s not fair. And we have to try to continue to make steps to combat that ignorance and that intolerance and that injustice that we face.”

Storm also took to her Instagram in June 2020 to share a picture of Breonna Taylor, writing, “We must go harder for Breonna. Her name is no longer trending. But meanwhile, her murderers go about their everyday lives without any substantial consequences. They ALL need to be fired, arrested, and convicted. We want justice, and we have to continue to say her name.”
Giving Back and Building Dreams
In a heartwarming Instagram post, Storm shared several photos of herself, her mother, and their realtor, Ikem Chukumerije, smiling in the home the actress built for Robyn in August 2022.
Storm expressed her gratitude and excitement for this milestone moment, writing, “Had visions of my mom sayin’, ‘Wait, this house mine?’ Yep. Sho isssssssssss. We closed on our house today!!! I can’t quite process or express how I’m feeling but I’m so grateful.”
