Chunky sandals with thick straps, like Birkenstocks and Tevas, are often called “ugly sandals.” But while many consider them unattractive, these sandals have seen a rise in popularity on the fashion scene over the past years.

From the average joes to fashion influencers, bloggers, and even celebrities, the “ugly sandals” have now become a must-have fashion staple.

Showing her take on the ugly sandal trend, Whitney Port wore Birkenstock “Arizona” EVA sandals while out to grab some coffee with her husband, Tim Rosenman, on Wednesday.

Not one to shy away from a bold color, the former The Hills star opted for the Scuba Blue colorway, which added a splash of color to her neutral gray loungewear.

These bright sandals feature a synthetic waterproof and lightweight EVA upper with white buckles. They also have Birkenstock’s anatomically-shaped footbed in EVA and deep heel cups.

You can buy these Birkenstock “Arizona” EVA sandals at Zappos and Nordstrom.

The 35-year-old TV personality teamed her “ugly sandals” with a dark gray tee, a pair of light gray sweatpants, and a khaki green sweater tied around her waist.

Opting for a bare-faced look, Whitney let her hair fall loose over her shoulders and stayed safe with a pink checked face mask.

Her husband, Tim, also opted for neutral colors for their casual outing. He wore an off-white tee with khaki pants, white sneakers, and a white face mask.
