Style Origins: Casting Secrets & Demi’s First Disney Looks

Initially, Selena Gomez was considered for a starring role in the film alongside Drew Seeley. However, she passed on the part, and when Demi Lovato, then a newcomer, was cast, the producers sought a big name to attract viewers, leading to the involvement of the Jonas Brothers.

David DeLuise, who played Selena’s father on Wizards of Waverly Place, revealed that Selena Gomez was offered the lead role in “Camp Rock.” Still, she turned it down to ensure Demi Lovato got the part.

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam premiered on Disney Channel on September 3, 2010, when she was 18. It was filmed in Toronto, Ontario, from September 3, 2009, to October 16, 2009.

While she captivated audiences with bold fashion choices like this, she also navigated personal challenges that would ultimately shape her into the resilient, empowered woman we see today.
