Over the weekend, Chanel and Tribeca’s Jane Rosenthal threw a star-studded luncheon at Locanda Verde to commemorate the 10th Annual Though Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program, which offers funding, support, and mentoring for rising female writers and directors.
Guests were clad in Chanel, no less. While AnnaSophia Robb and Joey King wore miniskirts, many opted for Chanel’s take on baggy jeans—one of the few relatable pieces in the luxury fashion house’s collections.

From Ella Rubin to Katie Holmes, let’s see how these stunning celebrities radiated sophistication in laid-back, baggy denim jeans at Chanel’s special luncheon.
Ella Rubin Goes Timeless in Baggy Crop Jeans and White Tee Combo
Ella Rubin, the star of The Idea of You and The Girl from Plainville, chose a more traditional denim look for the luncheon.
Rubin, 21, was one of the youngest stars at the event, so I honestly expected a contemporary twist on the classic laid-back denim outfit. Still, her classic interpretation of denim caught my attention.
She wore a basic fitted white tee with a floral-embroidered chest pocket and tucked it into a $2,600 pair of wide-leg cropped denim jeans. But they aren’t just any old pair of baggy jeans—the interlocking CC pockets give the easygoing pants a touch of Chanel grandeur.

I think the styling was impeccable! She enhanced the carefree ensemble with a belt embellished with strass crystals and freshwater pearls, evoking Chanel’s luxury. It even has a tiny envelope bag with pearl fringes hanging from it.
Taking the casual ensemble to the next level, she added a tennis choker necklace, a pearl necklace with a pendant, and statement silver rings. She kept her accessories cohesive and carried a white quilted mini bag with a long strap wrapped around her hand.
Glam-wise, Ella Rubin looks perfect! I love how she pulled her messy, textured waves into a low ponytail with strands framing her face.
Using Chanel makeup, she highlighted her round, doll eyes with heavy mascara, eyeliner, and smokey eyeshadow. She applied a peachy blush to her cheeks and finished the appearance with red lipstick.

Ella’s choice of shoes elevated her casual outfit. She went with the crystal-studded version of Chanel’s signature pumps, transforming the look from casual to sophisticated.
They are silver and black in color, adorned with sparkling crystals. They also have the instantly recognizable cutaway detail at the side, a slingback strap, and a block heel, which increases her height without sacrificing a comfortable posture.

Kathryn Newton Is Youthful in Baggy Jeans and Printed Tee
Like Ella, Kathryn Newton wore a traditional T-shirt and jeans combo. Hers, however, featured Chanel’s colorful four-leaf clover motif, which reflected her feminine aesthetic.
Newton tucked the fitted rib-knit tee into a pair of wide-leg flared jeans with a distressed effect and heart-embossed buttons from the fashion house’s Spring 2019 collection.
I must confess that I like Rubin’s appearance better than Newton’s, but I appreciate Newton’s youthful look in this outfit, which seems more suited to her age.

Kathryn accessorized with Chanel gold-plated clip earrings with an interlocking CC pink resin logo enclosed in a blue resin diamond pendant, adding a playful touch to the youthful ensemble.
Other than that, everything else was kept simple. Pink lipstick completed Newton’s understated makeup, and her golden hair fell naturally in waves over her shoulders.
She shielded her eyes from the summer heat with an enormous pair of retro-style round sunglasses.

I wish she had stuck to the youthful charm of the ensemble and wore Chanel’s iconic Mary Janes rather than her black-and-white T-strap slingback heels. Though I adore her shoes, they don’t appear to go as well with her outfit.
They have round black grosgrain toe caps and ivory lambskin uppers with a T-strap and Chanel’s crystal-encrusted logo. Kathryn’s 5’5” height was enhanced by the tall black grosgrain block heels with gold trims, fastened to her ankles with slim ankle straps.

Katie Holmes Revives Classic ’90s Combo in Baggy Jeans and Tank Top
I’ve always admired Katie Holmes’ classic and approachable sense of style. She often dons elegant yet carefree ensembles with a dash of edge and coolness off the red carpet, and she pulled it well at the Chanel Tribeca luncheon.
I could totally identify with her recreation of the iconic ’90s combination of baggy jeans and a tank top.
She exuded a relaxed vibe in a fitted white tank top with a large pink flower print on the center front and black high-waisted, wide-leg jeans embellished with small tonal floral decorations.
Katie is undeniably attractive, but I think her appearance would be much more striking if her tank top had been tucked in.

Holmes paired the jeans with a black leather and gold chain belt, which, while unnecessary in my opinion, gave the otherwise casual ensemble a hint of Chanel refinement.
She further styled her casual but chic ensemble with a couple of bangles on her right wrist and Chanel’s quilted box bag slung across her body.
She appeared to have just stepped out of the shower, her unkempt, wet-look wavy hair cascading down her shoulders. A dab of blush, mascara, eyeliner, and pink lipstick highlighted her stunning features.

I love how the ensemble accentuated her statuesque frame, further enhanced by towering pumps.
The Giver actress wore Chanel’s iconic black leather pumps with grosgrain cap toes, creating an elegant textural contrast. But what sets these shoes apart are the unique pearl heels that contribute to their sophistication.
Katie’s outing came on the heels of her look-alike daughter Suri’s college plan revelation. In a now-private TikTok video shared by a fellow student, Suri is seen sporting a college sweater from Carnegie Mellon University, hinting that she’ll attend the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based university.

Emily Mortimer Embraces the ’80s in Baggy Tapered Jeans and Preppy White Shirt
English actress and filmmaker Emily Mortimer opted for a semi-formal style, pairing a polka-dot white blouse with matching light-washed baggy denim jeans.
Although polka dots aren’t my thing, I can let her Chanel shirt pass since I adore the dramatic touch the lace-trimmed pussy bow and bell sleeves create.
Emily tucked the white polka-dot shirt into baggy jeans covered in polka-dots and interlocking CC logos. The hem was slightly tapered, giving the ensemble an ’80s vibe.
Her top is cute, but I can’t take seeing polka-dot jeans and a polka-dot shirt together. The double polka-dot look is too much for me, and I’m not a fan of the logomania trend.

Emily managed to keep the look polished, at least. Her only accessories were gold rings and simple black and gold Chanel stud earrings.
Her brunette hair was styled in tousled waves with curtain bangs, and her lovely features were accentuated with peachy makeup. Oversized square-framed sunglasses covered her eyes.
I think the focal point of the ensemble is her shoes. Cut from black leather with canvas pointed-toe caps, these traditional shoes are elevated on 3.5-inch stiletto heels embellished with a single fake pearl.
