I have always loved Zoë Kravitz’s distinct sense of style, which often incorporates black and combines edgy glamor with boho chic. However, while promoting her most recent project—her directorial debut movie—she didn’t exactly wow me with her classic choices.

Her wardrobe selections, though underwhelming, were fitting given her behind-the-scenes role. Since she worked behind the scenes, she was expected to keep things low-key to avoid drawing attention away from the movie’s star.

This phrase has long been used as a discreet signal by someone in a dangerous situation, say when kidnapped or experiencing domestic abuse. Zoë Kravitz’s debut movie appears to have been inspired by it.

Blink Twice, starring her fiancé Channing Tatum, follows a cocktail waitress, Frida (Naomie Ackie), who becomes infatuated with a mysterious billionaire tech mogul, Slater King (Channing Tatum), at his fundraising gala.

You might think this is a cliché-rich-guy-poor-girl love story. But no. It’s a psychological thriller, and the plot thickens when King invites Frida to come on a lavish vacation with him and his friends on his private island. Frida goes to the getaway, bringing along her friend, Jess (Alia Shawkat).

Frida notices something off after Jess disappears, and she soon doubts her reality. Blink Twice received overwhelmingly positive reviews. 79% of the 99 reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes are favorable. On Metacritic, it scored 69 out of 100 from 34 critics.

Sheer and Sophisticated: The Row Outfit & Black Pumps

At first glance, Zoe appeared to be wearing a simple skirt and nude top for the ‘Blink Twice’ premiere at Metrograph. However, given that the ensemble is from the Olsen twins’ The Row, a brand renowned for its superb materials and excellent craftsmanship, I figured it couldn’t be that basic.

Upon closer inspection, you’ll see that the outfit is actually rather interesting. With a sheer black maxi skirt, a sheer nude top, and a black blazer, it combines an aura of sensuality and elegance. It’s not as edgy as her signature style, which I love so much about her, but it’s also not terrible.

Her black organza skirt has architectural wavy pleats that extend in different directions. Showing her daring sense of style, Lenny Kravitz’s daughter paired it with a sheer nude bodysuit and ditched her bra to free her nip! Her bravery in claiming ownership of her body is admirable.

While the black jacket offered only partial coverage, it added structure and sophistication to her daring ensemble—perfectly suited for a stylish evening out in New York City.

Although wearing a necklace wouldn’t hurt, Zoe opted not to and instead accessorized the ensemble with Jessica McCormack diamond earrings and rings to amp up the luxury.

She accessorized with several Jessica McCormack pieces, including diamond Gypset hoop earrings, two statement rings, and her stunning 7ct cushion—cut engagement ring set in blackened and yellow gold.

Carrying her essentials in a black The Row Ascot bag, Zoë rounded out her polished neutral ensemble with classic black pointed-toe pumps that subtly elongated her 5ft 1in (154.9 cm) frame, adding a touch of elegance and height. However, I would’ve preferred strappy sandals to complement the skirt’s flow.

Red-Hot Statement: Saint Laurent Scoop-Neck & Zoe Pumps

Given that Zoë was chosen as the global makeup ambassador for YSL Beauty in 2017, I wasn’t surprised to see Zoë wearing a Saint Laurent ensemble at the London premiere of her most recent project.

Although its striking red hue is refreshing, as it deviates significantly from her usual black-and-white red carpet picks, it still fell short of expectations. But I must say that she stayed true to her elegant yet carefree style.

There’s nothing particularly noteworthy here. I was not too fond of the sleeveless top, which looked unflattering and tacky with a scoop neck and loose-fitting slinky silhouette. I have nothing against freeing the nips, but it just didn’t work in this case.

However, I like how she maintained her signature refinement by pairing the top with a silky floor-length maxi skirt to balance the ensemble. The crimson belt was an intriguing accent that gave the outfit texture and drew attention to the waist.

As you know, I love wearing red clothes with gold jewelry; something about the combination exudes a sense of effortless, timeless beauty. Zoe did just that; her jewelry saved her red carpet look.

Wearing her hair in a sleek ballerina bun, Kravitz highlighted her Jessica McCormack Gypset earrings and paired them with her engagement ring and a striking 5ct. pear-shaped diamond ring in twisted yellow gold.

Another thing I love about her look is her shoes. Unfortunately, due to her skirt, they are only partially visible.

She slipped on a pair of Saint Laurent slingback pumps aptly named after her. The “Zoe” pumps are crafted from shiny red patent calfskin leather and feature angular, sharp, pointed toes, slim slingback straps, and thin but sturdy stiletto heels.

’90s Lingerie Style: Lace Cami, Midi Skirt & Lee Slingbacks

Zoë Kravitz got off to a great start as she opened the Blink Twice press tour in London, donning a chic yet edgy Saint Laurent ensemble that wonderfully captured her signature edgy yet elegant aesthetic.

Drawing inspiration from the ’90s fashion trend, Zoë revealed just enough skin by pairing a black lace-trimmed tank top with a matching mid-waist lace midi skirt from Saint Laurent’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection.

Taking cues from classic lingerie, her top is a semi-sheer, fitted tank top cut from a ribbed-silk jersey with delicate scalloped lace trimmings at the V-neckline. It features a softly ruffled hem and is secured in place by thin spaghetti straps.

Zoë paired her lingerie-style top with a wraparound midi skirt to highlight her tiny waist. The skirt sat low on her hips, emphasizing the ensemble’s 90s glamour, and ended on her knees with a scalloped hem.

While I still find it underwhelming, I adore the ensemble’s subtle appeal, which I think only Zoë can achieve.

Kravitz’s black Saint Laurent Jeanne sunglasses added a hint of enigmatic charm to the otherwise straightforward look.

For a dash of glitz, she donned jewelry from her go-to London-based jewelry designer, Jessica McCormack. She fastened the $8,820 Signature Tripset Hoop earrings on her ears, which combined classic Georgian features with modern style. They’re handcrafted in blackened 18k yellow gold and feature two 0.30ct. round brilliant-cut diamonds.

Her right tattooed arm showcased an 18k yellow gold Forget Me Knot bracelet set with a 0.80ct round brilliant-cut diamond. Her well-groomed hands held her $1,090 Round Wire 3mm yellow gold wedding band and engagement ring.

Wearing her dark tresses in chic space buns, which I didn’t expect from Kravitz, she dialed up the glamour with the Saint Laurent “Lee” slingback pumps.

They’re made from glazed leather and have square, pointed toes, square-cut vamps, slingback straps with rectangular gold-tone hardware, and 4-inch gold comma heels, boosting Kravitz’s 5’2” height.

They are available for $1,150 at Mytheresa and Saks Fifth Avenue.
