Dua Lipa was the belle of the ball at the 50th Chaplin Award Gala, stealing the show with confidence and flair. The singer-slash-actress turned heads as she showed up to pay homage to her friend, movie director Pedro Almodóvar, who received this year’s Chaplin Award.
Dua’s Schiaparelli dress lives up to the house’s reputation for creating alluring yet striking pieces, much like the pop star herself. The dress hugs her figure like a second skin, with its slinky silhouette accentuating her incredibly toned curves.
I am particularly drawn to its dark chocolate mesh fabrication with black laminate embroidery, which creates its unusual, snakeskin-like texture. The see-through material enhances the dress’s seductive element, providing a subtle glimpse of what’s underneath.
The bodice features gold-tone buttons along the center front, cleverly left open to create a daring plunging neckline. Below that, buttons are fastened down to the navel, creating oval-shaped cutouts that draw attention to Dua’s toned abs and belly button. Along with the sharp shoulders and slightly flared cuffs, these details take the look to a new level of daring sophistication.

Sculptural Gold Jewelry Takes Dua Lipa’s Look to the Next Level
Schiaparelli’s jewelry is whimsical, with an air of mystery and a touch of the absurd, and the pieces Dua wore were no different.
I commend Dua and her stylist, Lorenzo Posocco, for cleverly keeping the dress’s bodice half unbuttoned, providing a perfect backdrop for her striking necklace.
She wore Schiaparelli’s chandelier bib necklace, which had a thick crystal-embellished gold choker with a striking deconstructed meltdown face dangling from it. This hammered gilded brass necklace featured stacks of the label’s Anatomic Bijoux, including the signature eye with dangling pearl accents, the signature nose and mouth, and the signature keyhole.
Lipa teamed the necklace with huge mismatched keyhole earrings from the Italian fashion house. I’m glad she didn’t wear any rings, or that would have been overkill!

While Dua Lipa’s outfit was undoubtedly stunning, the black patent mule she wore with the look was underwhelming.
It seemed a bit out of place in contrast to the other elements of the ensemble, and I couldn’t help but think that a pair of gold sandals, like the models’ from the runway show, would have been a more cohesive choice.

Don’t get me wrong—I love the shoes. Compared to other Schiaparelli shoe designs, they are timeless. They’re made of black velvety suede and feature a metallic insert at the vamp, creating an angular effect that adds an extra touch of modern luxe.
These mules are finished with a strap across the foot and high heels that provide extra inches to Dua Lipa’s already impressive 5ft 8 (172.7 cm) stature.
