The 2017 Met Gala served quite a number of interesting looks that tried to reference the avant-garde spirit of Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, in keeping with the event theme. A-list stars showed up in princess dresses, billowy gowns, over-the-top looks, and even a sheer catsuit. Some celebrities were far more successful with adhering to the theme like Zoe Kravitz, Rihanna, Helen Lasichanh, Solange Knowles, and Lily Collins. Others just tried too hard or didn’t try at all.
Meanwhile, Emmy Rossum and Gigi Hadid opted for simple yet stylish looks at the fashion gala. Emmy exuded understated elegance in Carolina Herrera, while Gigi oozed sultry edge in Tommy Hilfiger. Both donned monochromatic looks at the event and styled them with sexy pointy-toe pumps from Christian Louboutin.
The 30-year-old actress and singer wore a custom Carolina Herrera jumpsuit with a strapless white bodice and black tailored pants. It also featured an exaggerated bow detail on the side that flowed into a sweeping train. Emmy swept her hair back in a sleek, center-parted ponytail, which showed off her soft smoky eyes and sexy red lips. She wore a pair of black pumps with pointy toes, high stiletto heels and red lacquered soles. Statement jewelry provided a glamorous finish to her effortlessly elegant look.

Gigi, on the other hand, donned a custom nude Tommy Hilfiger ensemble. It consisted of a deconstructed tuxedo jacket with long sleeves, satin panels, a wide waistband and structured tailoring. She added a few sensual details such as the draped off-the-shoulder sleeve, high hemline and black fishnet tights. Gigi’s outfit also featured an asymmetrical tulle skirt with a sweeping train, which provided a romantic flourish to her look.
