We couldn’t believe our eyes when we first discovered Gucci‘s ‘Flashtrek’ sneakers that are printed with a logo inspired by the typeface of SEGA, a Japanese video game developer that manufactured numerous home video game consoles from 1983 to 2001.

Available in numerous colors including black, white, and multicolor, they are set on chunky lug soles reminiscent of hiking footwear. You can remove the sparkling crystal-embellished straps if you’re pairing these shoes with a bolder outfit.

The creative director of Gucci, Italian fashion designer Alessandro Michele, isn’t one to do things by halves, which he proved when it came to tackling this season’s playfully dubbed ‘dad sneaker’ trend.

Spotted on the Fall ’18 runway, this ‘Flashtrek’ style is designed in a hiking-inspired silhouette from black mesh, suede, and supple leather.

Fall ’18’s trend for ‘ugly sneakers’ isn’t one to approach halfheartedly – you have to go full tilt or the irony gets lost.
