Filmmaker couple Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig brought classic Hollywood sophistication to the red carpet at the 2020 Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

That year, both were in the running for Best Picture — a rare creative moment that saw the longtime partners celebrate each other’s work even as they competed in the same category. Their respective films, Marriage Story and Little Women, earned six nominations each, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress (won by Laura Dern).

Although the top honor ultimately went to South Korea’s Kwak Sin-ae and Bong Joon-ho for Parasite, Gerwig and Baumbach’s red-carpet presence captured the artistic partnership and refined style that have made them one of Hollywood’s most admired creative duos.

The Little Women director, nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, went for old-Hollywood glamour in a custom green strapless Dior Haute Couture gown.

The traditional ball gown features a pleated bodice with a sweetheart neckline, updated with fringing along the floor-sweeping hem. It also has a dainty belt to accentuate her waist.

Styling the Look: Bulgari Jewels, Soft Glam Beauty, and a Sleek Side-Part

Stylist Cristina Ehrlich amped up the elegance factor a few notches with a pair of diamond earrings and a platinum necklace featuring seven emerald beads, 14 pear diamonds, 32 round diamonds, and pavé-set diamonds by Bulgari.

Hairstylist John D. swept back Greta’s blonde hair with a side parting to allow her to showcase her stunning jewelry. Makeup artist Jenn Streicher beautified the actress-director with dark green eyeshadow to complement her gown. She also applied mascara, pink lipstick, and matching blush.
