You can always count on mother-daughter duo Heidi Klum and Leni Olumi Klum to bring glamour to any red-carpet event they attend. The 2024 amfAR Cannes Gala red carpet was no exception, as they dazzled in contrasting ruffled gowns that set them apart from a myriad of A-list stars.
Their presence instantly captured me when they stood for photos on the red carpet. Supermodel Heidi Klum nearly overshadowed her daughter in an ostentatious peach-colored gown. But Leni, a budding model in her own right, isn’t one to back down, commanding attention in a black see-through mesh gown.

The 30th Annual amfAR Cannes Gala
The illustrious philanthropic event, which supports “AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and advocacy,” celebrated its 30th anniversary with a star-studded evening of elegance and splendor.
Champagne and cocktails were served before a 3-course dinner followed by the live auction. This year, several sculptures, works of art, and gowns from Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood, Prada, and other fashion houses were auctioned off, raising $16 million.
While a plethora of superstars walked the red carpet, including host Demi Moore, Kelly Rowland, Cher, Paris Jackson, Winnie Harlow, Diane Kruger, and Bella Thorne, Heidi Klum and her look-alike daughter Leni stood out.
Heidi Klum in an Extravagant Peach Lever Couture Ruffled Tulle Gown
The America’s Got Talent judge was hard not to notice in her Lever Couture gown—a voluminous asymmetrical peachy gown made entirely of ruffled tulle. She didn’t seem to be wearing any underwear, but her modesty was concealed by the voluminous ruffles trailing across her body.
Although Klum was practically covered in layers of ruffled tulle, the fabric’s diagonal placement showed a glimpse of her left breast and entire right leg before it cascaded into a spectacular train.

Heidi’s outfit captured the Ukrainian fashion brand’s aesthetic, emphasizing the feminine form. Given her fearless approach to red-carpet dressing and passion for statement pieces, I wasn’t surprised she showed up at one of the Cannes Film Festival’s star-studded events wearing a dress from the label.
Klum’s amfAR Gala look was put together by the legendary style team of Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, who were also in charge of some of the winning ensembles worn by Jennifer Lopez, Kerry Washington, Jessica Biel, Hailee Steinfeld, Lily Collins, and others.
I appreciate how they went for a seamless look, pairing the peachy-pink gown with matching rose gold satin mules with pointed open toes and height-boosting slim stiletto heels.

I don’t think the look needed any glitz, but Heidi added some Lorraine Schwartz emerald and diamond jewelry as accessories. Her enormous diamond earrings with a central pear-shaped emerald and matching emerald ring provided a lovely contrast to her all-peach outfit.
Klum’s “naked nude” nails perfectly coordinated her ensemble. Iram Shelton achieved the look using the OPI Stay Classic Base Coat, Bare My Soul, and Stay Shiny Top Coat.
I prefer Heidi’s hairstyle when it’s down, and I’m happy that Jennifer Yepez stuck to the model’s signature look by sweeping her dirty blonde hair back and letting it tumble down in waves.
Klum’s makeup, created by Sabrina Bedrani, went well with her dress. She highlighted Klum’s hazel eyes with glittering rose gold eyeshadow and smudged eyeliner. For the finishing touch, she applied dainty pink blush and lipstick.

Leni Olumi Klum in a Black Raisa Vanessa Mesh Gown
Despite their starkly different ensembles, Leni Olumi Klum gave her mom a run for her money, revealing plenty of flesh in a more daring outfit than her mother’s.
Heidi undoubtedly influenced Leni’s interest in daring fashion. Her choice of a black lace mesh maxi dress from Istanbul-based luxury label Raisa Vanessa struck me as bold yet youthful and perfect for her age.
Held in place by shoulder straps, it hugged her torso and hips and then gorgeously flowed into a column skirt that reached her floor.

The revealing dress featured a low-cut neckline that showed off her cleavage and pleated ruffle flower appliques strategically placed around the breasts and hips to protect her modesty.
Leni boldly removed some of the 3D florals that were originally affixed to the hips to create a more daring appearance.
Despite being significantly shorter than her mother—she is just 5’4” as opposed to her mom’s 5’9”—Leni nearly caught up to her thanks to her towering platform sandals.
Unfortunately, I could not get a good look at her heels, but through the mesh gown’s openings, I could see a slingback strap, thick platforms, high heels, and a bow accent.

Leni further accessorized with fingerless opera gloves in matching black lace to lend some drama to the ensemble. She then added a sparkling gemstone collar necklace and tiny stud earrings to contrast with the black mesh fabric.
Like Heidi Klum, Leni doesn’t disappoint in the beauty department. Her long, brunette hair was fashioned in a half-up, half-down curly ponytail with a center parting and a slight bouffant.
Leni looked foxy with winged eyeliner, mascara, and red smokey eye makeup, accentuating her stunning blue eyes. She kept the rest of her makeup minimal, applying soft blush and earthy mauve lipstick.
