Maisie Williams never hesitates to embrace her signature quirk wherever she goes. And Wednesday was no different when she attended the 2023 GQ Men of the Year Awards in an eccentric deconstructed gown and dramatic abstract eyeshadow.

The Book of Love star attracted attention with her daring sense of style as she walked into the Paul Hamlyn Hall of the Royal Opera House dressed like a failed arts and crafts project.

The 26-year-old actress made a provocative appearance at the GQ event wearing a gray and blue tulle dress by Maison Margiela, a French fashion house known for its artistic, deconstructive, and avant-garde designs.

Maisie’s unconventional gown embodies the house’s signature style, with an asymmetric bodice of pleated gray tulle draped over a black latex bra.

In addition, the maximalist design boasted of a black velvet ruffled ribbon that ran from one shoulder to the hips and glittering silver sequin embellishments that adorned the bodice and peplum waist.

The gown’s lower section featured a voluminous, ankle-length blue tulle skirt decorated with scattered velvet-trimmed ruffled ribbons, perfectly encapsulating Maisie’s unique flair. Her black latex underwear and toned legs covered in black fishnets were visible to onlookers through the sheer, see-through skirt.

Opting for a full look from the house’s Co-Ed 2023 Collection, Maisie paired the exquisite creation with the hottest shoe of the moment, Tabi shoes.

These are traditional Japanese split-toe shoes designed to help improve posture and reduce the risk of injuries by offering stability and balance.

Maisie’s Tabi shoes are encrusted with dazzling crystals, giving her unmatched red-carpet look extra sparkles. They have the classic split-toe design, finished with high heels to boost her 5’1” height.

Never one to keep things simple, Maisie topped off her peculiar look with theatrical makeup, evoking Natalie Portman in the psychological thriller Black Swan.

Zoe Taylor created Maisie’s black smokey abstract eyeshadow and paired it with soft pink blush and lipstick to complete her glam.

Williams has kept her hair short since shaving it last year. And for the event, she wore a glossy pixie cut styled by Christopher Gatt.

Maisie, who starred as Arya Stark for eight years on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, is set to star in the biographical drama TV series The New Look.

Inspired by true events, the upcoming Apple TV+ production tells the story of French fashion designer Christian Dior after World War II and how he created his first 90-piece fashion collection, which Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Carmel Snow named “the new look.”

The series, created by Todd Kessler, will star Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior, Maisie Williams as his sister Catherine Dior, and Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel.

The first three episodes are scheduled for release on February 14, 2024, with one released every Wednesday until April 3.
