For the Los Angeles premiere of Journey 2: The Mysterious Island on February 2, 2012, Rachel McAdams demonstrated how a monochrome palette can bridge the gap between seasonal trends and timeless red-carpet elegance.

Attending the event to support her then-boyfriend Michael Sheen and co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Dwayne Johnson, McAdams’ choice of attire remains a masterclass in texture-mixing.

Her ensemble featured a sheer cyan top and a floor-length floral maxi skirt with a daring high slit, both by Peter Som.

While the silhouette leaned into the bohemian aesthetics of the early 2010s, the look was grounded by high-fashion accessories that remain relevant today: a blue snakeskin clutch and Jimmy Choo’s iconic Anouk pumps.

Rachel McAdams isn’t the only petite star to rely on the leg-lengthening power of Jimmy Choo’s iconic Anouk pointed-toe pumps.

Standing just over five feet tall, pop singer Cher Lloyd’s sky-high stiletto moments in Jimmy Choo heels show how sharply cut pumps like the Anouk can dramatically elevate a petite frame on the red carpet.

The silhouette has also been a go-to for Hollywood A-listers, including Gwyneth Paltrow’s floral dress and navy Jimmy Choo Anouk pairing during a press appearance, as well as Penélope Cruz’s nude patent Jimmy Choo Anouk pumps at TIFF, a masterclass in using neutral stilettos to extend the leg line.

Even model-off-duty dressing has embraced the style, with Cara Delevingne finishing a sharp black-tie look in classic black Anouk pumps, cementing the shoe’s status as a red-carpet essential across heights and aesthetics.

This wasn’t the first time Rachel McAdams used blue as a red-carpet power move — or paired it with standout Jimmy Choo heels to elongate her petite 5ft 4 (162.6 cm) height.

Seven years earlier, while promoting Wedding Crashers, she delivered another unforgettable blue moment, stepping out in a very different silhouette and a separate pair of metallic Jimmy Choo pumps that perfectly captured the mid-2000s era of retro-glam dressing.

Designed by Behnaz Sarafpour, the royal-blue cocktail dress featured a distinct 1960s mod silhouette. Its defining element was the rhinestone-encrusted waistband, which added a disco-ball sparkle that caught the flashbulbs, while the subtly shimmery fabric enhanced the saturated blue tone. A modest scoop neckline balanced the dress’s structured, vintage feel.

McAdams grounded the look with metallic gold Jimmy Choo heels, creating a striking contrast against the deep blue dress. Her voluminous bouffant hairstyle, secured with a simple headband, leaned fully into the ’60s inspiration, while fresh, classic makeup kept the focus on the color and embellishment. A small metallic clutch echoed the warm gold tones of her shoes, tying the look together.

In the film, she plays Claire Cleary, the daughter of a powerful politician portrayed by Christopher Walken.

Her character becomes entangled in a love triangle with Wilson and Cooper, adding a layer of complexity to the film’s comedic storyline.
