The London purple carpet shimmered with the brilliance of stars as it played host to the premiere of the highly-anticipated film, the second adaptation of Alice Walker’s timeless masterpiece, The Color Purple.
Set to grace theaters on December 25, this iteration of The Color Purple brings the magic of the Broadway musical version to the silver screen, boasting a stellar cast that includes Fantasia Barrino as Celie and Danielle Brooks as Sofia.
On Monday, November 20, the talented ensemble descended upon London for a special screening, and amidst the stars, one name truly stood out – Taraji P. Henson.
The 53-year-old wealthy American actress, who embodies the iconic Shug Avery in the movie, made an entrance that left jaws dropping as she emerged as the latest ambassador of the Barbiecore trend.

Taraji graced the occasion in a LaPointe feather-trimmed velvet maxi dress from the brand’s Resort 2024 collection that showcased her confidence and exuded a posh demeanor.
The fitted tank silhouette hugged her curves, and the playful feather bottom added a touch of whimsy as it danced with every step she took down the purple carpet.
Styled by Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald, the Abbott Elementary star complemented her posh pink dress with simple yet elegant jewelry – a silver bracelet and ring.
Celebrity makeup artist Saisha Beecham worked her magic with an alluring makeup look, featuring dramatic pink and purple shadows that complemented the bright pink gloss adorning Taraji’s lips. Hairstylist Tym Wallace had her brown locks luxuriously straightened to the back.

Completing the Baby Boy actress‘ monochromatic ensemble were matching fuchsia pink crystal-embellished heels.
Taraji slipped into a pair of Alevi Penelope sandals, adding a touch of sophistication with features like calf leather, a caged design, an almond toe, a buckle-fastening ankle strap, and 120mm stiletto heels that elevated her glamorous look.

The following day, the main cast, including Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Blitz Bazawule, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, and, of course, Taraji P. Henson, gathered for a photocall at Savoy Place in London.

For this occasion, the Hidden Numbers star continued to captivate in a Roberto Cavalli ensemble from the Italian luxury fashion house’s Fall 2022 collection.
Her black turtleneck seamlessly paired with a zebra-print skirt that cascaded just above her ankles, while a leopard-print coat featuring yellow and gold accents added a bold touch.
Completing the look were classic suede pumps that provided a subtle and sophisticated boost. These shoes boasted knife-like pointed toes and thin winding ankle straps, further enhancing the overall allure of Taraji’s outfit.
