Forget Heel-Less, Vamp-Less Is the New Thing in Shoes Now

First, designers took off the heel and now, they’re taking off the vamp.

Vamp-less is the shoe style that’s going to make you forget the heel-less shoe. At the very least, vamp-less is going to make heel-less seem normal in comparison!

If you can’t even begin to imagine a vamp-less shoe, let me point you towards where we first saw the style: on the crazy but can’t-look-away shoes from the Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2011 collection. But as interesting-looking as those shoes are, they took the backseat to the stiff cardboard-backed clothes.

Even we here at YNS, noticed the clothes first before the shoes:

The Maison Martin Margiela Spring 2011 fashion show is A LOT to take in but as soon as you get your fill, it’s easy to see that it’s a conceptual collection that’s meant to shock with its peculiarity more than anything.

But you know what’s even more shocking? Someone actually went ahead and copied the vamp-less style of the Maison Martin Margiela shoes. That someone is the Spanish shoe label Paloma Barcelo which adapted the vamp-less look for one of their espadrille wedge shoe styles:

We wonder what designers are going to think of removing from shoes next? At this rate, we might soon be seeing completely backless, toe-less or, Louboutin forbid, sole-less shoes.
