Long before they married and started a family, Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker marked a significant milestone in their relationship at the November 2021 world premiere of Tick, Tick… Boom! in Los Angeles.
The event at the AFI Fest Opening Night Gala marked the couple’s formal red-carpet debut, a year after they first connected during a group meditation session.

For the premiere of the Netflix musical drama, the pair opted for classic evening wear that balanced Hollywood tradition with Hudgens’ personal aesthetic.
While the professional baseball player chose a timeless black tuxedo, Hudgens leaned into the elevated bohemian style that has defined her public wardrobe for years.

Dubbed as the queen of boho chic, Vanessa brought her signature style to the red carpet, wearing a white macrame lace-tiered dress from American fashion designer Vera Wang’s Spring 2022 collection.
She leaned into soft, bohemian drama in the white off-the-shoulder gown, its lingerie-inspired bodice and plunging V-neckline balanced by cascading, tiered layers that floated to the floor—completely obscuring the Versace platform heels beneath, adding to the look’s effortless, almost ethereal sweep.

Styled by Jason Bolden, the High School Musical star kept her neck bare and accessorized with statement rings and dangling earrings.
For her glam look, makeup artist Allan Avendaño dolled her up with Shiseido mascara, Tatti Lashes false lashes, subtle smoky eyeshadow, Makeup by Mario bronzer and Desert Rose blush, and Dior Beauty lipstick in Opera.
Allowing her gorgeous features to take center stage, hairstylist Chad Wood tightly pulled her dark brown tresses back into a long, braided ponytail.

Tick, Tick… Boom! is a film adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s semi-autobiographical musical of the same name.
Starring Andrew Garfield as the late Rent composer, the musical drama tells the story of a young Jonathan, an aspiring theater composer who’s enduring a quarter-life crisis, “navigating love, friendship and the pressure to create something great before time runs out.”

Speaking to ET on the red carpet, Vanessa talked about the film’s inspiring story and the struggles she faced at the beginning of her career.
“I still have moments where I feel like that to this day. But you do it because you love it and I’ve been doing this for so long. There’s been highs and there’s been lows, and I’m grateful to be where I am today. It’ll be a journey and a climb and I’m ready for it. I love it, it all comes from passion.”
