Here’s a footwear that is seriously odd-looking, but I honestly wouldn’t mind trying on – the Vibram Five Fingers, as seen on Channing Tatum last April 19 while he was out and about in New York.

Celebuzz called it freaky.
What do you think?
If you can’t seem to decide, here’s a zoomed up product shot:

It’s definitely interesting to look at, don’t you agree? And I’m pretty sure walking in it will be very comfortable. Aesthetically however, it isn’t appealing. But then again, aesthetics is the last thing these shoes have in mind.
I went to the Vibram website for further information and found this short but direct to the point description of the shoes’ purpose written on one of the pages.
“FiveFingers footwear connects you to the earth and your surroundings in a way that is simply not possible in conventional shoes. It puts you in touch with the earth beneath your feet and liberates you to move in a more natural, healthy way. FiveFingers stimulate the muscles in your feet and lower legs to build strength and improve range of motion. Our customers report an increased sense of balance, greater agility, and visibly improved posture.”
The Vibram Five Fingers is actually an alternative footwear one can use in almost any type of barefooting activity – walking, swimming, trekking, yoga, pilates, kayaking, and so on.
I guess Channing must have loved walking in these shoes last Monday, feeling New York’s concrete ground beneath his feet with every step.
If you’re interested to purchase a pair of Vibram Five Fingers, you may visit their website, www.vibramfivefingers.com.
Now if you want shoes that are aesthetically appealing but at the same time, will allow you to feel closer to the ground like the way the Vibram Five Fingers would, try the next best thing – moccasins with thin soles!
To illustrate the kind of Moccasins you should buy, here are a few examples:
For Men
Minnetonka Suede Driving Moc, US$50
For Women
Woolrich Somerton Moc, US$48
