On November 18, 2013, Jena Malone arrived at the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire wearing a look defined by transparency and metallic textures.

While the film’s “Capitol” fashion was known for being over-the-top, Malone’s red-carpet choice brought that avant-garde aesthetic into a real-world context, relying on a sheer-paneled gown and architectural heels to make a statement.

Following in the footsteps of Jaimie Alexander and other stars who have embraced bold, commando-style looks, the actress joined Elizabeth Banks, Isabelle Fuhrman, and Jennifer Lawrence in wearing a gold-and-silver ombré gown by British designer Nicholas Oakwell.

The dress, characterized by its vertical sheer strips and heavy embellishment, required a specific approach to footwear. Malone chose the “Gilda” platform sandals by Charlotte Olympia.

These shoes feature a substantial platform and a high, thin heel—a signature silhouette for designer Charlotte Olympia Dellal, who launched her label in 2008 with an emphasis on mid-century glamour and playful proportions.

The gold finish of the Gilda sandals mirrored the warm tones in the gown’s embroidery, while the platform height helped manage the length of the floor-sweeping hem.

This same pair of heels was later spotted on the red carpet again, as Freida Pinto wore the same “Gilda” sandals for the opening night of the IFFLA festival in Los Angeles.
