Actor Will Smith shocked the world when he walked on the Oscars stage and slapped Chris Rock. The comedian addressed Will’s wife Jada Pinkett-Smith and made an unkind reference to the film G.I. Jane, in which Demi Moore’s character must shave her head.
Jada suffers from alopecia, a condition that causes people to lose their hair. We aren’t sure if Chris knew about this, but Jada immediately looked upset and rolled her eyes.
Smith then walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock, before taking his seat and repeatedly shouting “keep my wife’s name out your mouth.”
Tiffany Haddish praised the smacking as the “most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.” On March 30th, Chris did a stand-up show in Boston and kicked it off by joking “so how was your weekend?”

He went on to say “I don’t have a bunch of shit about what happened…I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend. I’m still kind of processing what happened.”
Chris added that he would be addressing the situation at a future show, “and it will be serious and funny.”
“I’m going to tell some jokes. It’s nice to just be out,” he concluded his opening remarks before going into his routine.
Will apologized to Chris via Instagram, saying “I was out of line, and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.”
The Academy has since released a statement that there will be consequences for Will’s violations of their strict Standards, which could mean “suspension, expulsion, or other sanctions.”

Amy Schumer also discussed the incident during a set at the Mirage Theater in Las Vegas on Saturday.
“We’re gonna talk about everything and the Oscars, but I just want to talk about drinking because I have been drinking so much and I am severely hung over,” the wealthy comedian said.

“I don’t even know what to say about the Oscars. I have no jokes about it,” she added. “All I can say is that, I don’t know if you saw this, but Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Did that cross your newsfeed?”
“It was just a f—ing bummer. All I can say is that it was really sad, and I think it says so much about toxic masculinity. It was really upsetting,” Amy added.
