During a July 4th outing in the Hamptons in 2024, Jennifer Lopez traded her usual red-carpet glamour for a softer Ralph Lauren look built around relaxed tailoring, practical summer layers, and flat leather sandals.

Rather than leaning into statement dressing, the outfit reflected the quieter side of her personal style: a striped cotton blouse, wide-leg khaki trousers, a straw hat, and simple Ralph Lauren flip-flops suited to a holiday weekend spent outdoors.

The change in footwear is especially notable for Lopez, who is more commonly associated with towering platforms and stilettos.

Given her long-standing working ties with Ralph Lauren, the American fashion company that shares her Bronx roots, I wasn’t surprised J.Lo chose a set from the brand.

She has worn the designer several times; notably, she donned Ralph Lauren at the Met Gala in 2023 and 2021 and three of the brand’s gowns for her 2022 Georgia wedding to Ben Affleck.

Lopez balanced relaxed summer dressing with the polished styling details that regularly define her casual wardrobe.

She wore the Floral Cotton Tie-Back Blouse (on sale for $209 from $296), cut from lightweight woven cotton with striped and floral prints reminiscent of antique French motifs. I love how the color enhances the vintage vibe of the design.

The shirred ruffle trim at the Peter Pan collar and short sleeves lends a youthful touch, while the chest pockets with double-ended arrow piping lend it a Western vibe. The feminine blouse is finished with a self-tie at the rear waist, accentuating J. Lo’s toned body.

Although I think the blouse will look great with denim jeans, the Selena actress never does anything so conventional. Instead, she tucked it into a pair of $295 Ralph Lauren Cropped Cotton Wide-Leg Pants in New Military Khaki Japanese piece-dyed cotton twill.

Inspired by the 1940s, these trousers have hand-set back flapped pockets, stitched down pleated front, and buttoned belt loops with adjustable tabs at the sides.

J.Lo kept the remainder of her outfit casual, styling with simple yet eye-catching accessories that complement the ensemble’s countryside-chic feel.

The Maid in Manhattan star sported her favorite 2” Silver Thread Hoops by Jennifer Fisher and her Rahaminov Diamonds platinum engagement ring. It is set with a rare 8.5ct. emerald-cut green diamond flanked by two diamonds, given to her by her estranged husband Ben Affleck.

Many, including me, didn’t expect that, as she had been spotted without it in a video posted to her JLo Beauty Instagram account while promoting the Ultimate Body Kit + Complexion Booster, fueling breakup rumors.

Keeping the look’s summery motif, J.Lo carried her daily essentials in the $6,400 Dior Hat Basket Bag. A blend of sophistication and practicality, this bag is fully hand-embroidered in natural, supple raffia with tonal flowers. The Christian Dior Paris signature is on the front, and the bag is finished with double top handles.

On the other side of the country, Ben Affleck marked Independence Day by having lunch at Kaz The Soba Place in Los Angeles with his kids, Fin, 15, and Violet, 18, whom he shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

He was reportedly seen wearing his wedding ring at the time.
