The 53-year-old singer donned a breathtaking Ralph Lauren ensemble featuring a midriff-baring halter gown paired with a flowing pink silk satin skirt adorned with a stunning handcrafted floral collar.

Her look was further accentuated with towering platforms, black silk evening gloves, and dazzling diamond jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz, including a magnificent pink ring featuring over 10 carats of natural pink diamonds.

Despite initial reservations, she seemed to have grown fond of the unconventional accessory. She shared with La La Anthony for Vogue, “I wasn’t sure about the hat, but now I’m kinda feeling it.” Overall, her outfit was a bold and confident statement that perfectly embodied the theme of the evening.

The Grammy-nominated celebrity opened up to the outlet about the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, to whom the theme and dress code were dedicated.

“I hate throwing around the word ‘iconic’ because everyone uses it so much, but he actually was such an iconic figure in fashion,” she said.

“When you think of the last 50 years, if you think of five people in fashion, he’s one of them. What he did with Chanel for so long and keeping that brand so fresh, young and alive — he really was a genius.”

A Personal Tribute: Jennifer Lopez Remembers Meeting Karl Lagerfeld

Lopez, a seasoned attendee at star-studded events, also shared her personal connection to Lagerfeld.

“I got to meet [Lagerfeld]. For a little girl from the Bronx who kinda aspired to be in the fashion world and to be an entertainer, to meet people like that was always such a dream to me,” said Lopez.

“So, it’s a real honor to be here to celebrate him tonight.” On social media, Lopez offered a glimpse into her preparation for the event, including a fun photoshoot and celebratory drinks with her glam squad.

This year’s Met Gala theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” paid homage to the late fashion designer, who worked at several prestigious fashion houses, including Balmain, Chloé, Fendi, and Chanel. As such, the dress code for the gala was “in honor of Karl.” The event’s official co-chairs were Michaela Coel, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer, and Dua Lipa.
