Matthew Williamson worked closely with Kurt Geiger’s creative director, Rebecca Farrar-Hockley.

As reported by Hello! magazine, Williamson shared that he has “known the creative director Rebecca for a number of years as our paths crossed often when I was in the fashion industry previously. Rebecca and I have a similar creative outlook.”

Farrar-Hockley also stated, “As a British designer and the ultimate king of color, collaborating with Matthew Williamson felt like a natural fit for Kurt Geiger London, a brand for whom color is everything.”

“I set to work on a print which I felt would embody the bohemian spirit of the region. I took the well-known Mallorcan Ikat design as my starting point and then layered on hand-painted florals native to the area,” he explained further. “Rebecca worked the print onto products she felt right for Spring Summer 2023 collection and would work best to showcase the pattern.”

“We are both drawn to the bohemian spirit of the village and its people and wanted to express this in the accessories collection,” Williamson shared with Footwear News. “Color has been at the centre of both our brands and remains a key aspect [of] everything we create. In our own separate ways, I think we both want to offer uplifting and joyful pieces.”
