The evening delivered plenty of major fashion moments, including an appearance by Donatella Versace herself. Lady Gaga is one of Versace’s most loyal and devoted celebrity fans, having worn the designer for numerous high-profile events—including a bold, vintage-inspired look for the 2016 Met Gala—and even writing the song “Donatella” as an ode to the fashion house. Sadly, for the first time, Elton did not attend. During an interview with Good Morning America, Elton said, “It breaks my heart, but I can’t be there, because it’s an event that means so much to us.”

Instead of attending, Elton performed at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.

The red carpet moments at this famous event are no less spectacular than those of the awards ceremony, with over 150 celebrities being spotted on the foundation’s red carpet.

David Furnish and Lady Gaga, who perfectly stood in for Elton John, co-hosted the event. Lady Gaga looked incredible in her pale yellow, strapless, tulle Rodarte ball gown.

Her look was completed with an elegant updo, a dazzling diamond necklace, and her signature red lipstick — and while her shoes weren’t visible beneath the voluminous gown, the 5 feet 1¼-inch (155.6 cm) star, who wears a petite US size 6, is rarely without sky-high heels to elevate her statuesque presence.
