Anna Paquin loves to wear black heels on the red carpet so I didn’t think much of it when she wore these seemingly simple chunky black velvet pumps to the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party last Sunday:

But it was that last picture in the photo series above that made me reconsider and do a double take. We’re trained to spot even the most minute shoe details here on Your Next Shoes and that hint of red peeking out from behind Anna Paquin’s heel was a promise of much better things beneath the surface.
I wasn’t disappointed. My quick research brought me these from-the-back pictures of Anna Paquin at the 2011 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and as soon as I laid eyes on these, I immediately regretted my initial disregard for Anna Paquin:

Anna Paquin’s pumps are the Brian Atwood Donna ribbon-embellished platform pumps from the Fall 2010 collection. The black patent leather version of these retailed online for as much as over $700 when they were available. You can browse more recent releases from Brian Atwood at Shopbop and Neiman Marcus.
