As the snow melts and the days grow longer, we grow more eager by the minute to shed off the layers of clothing we have been putting on the past few months. We’re excited for warmth to touch our sun-deprived skin and the result is usually a vast array of frayed shorts and strapless tank tops.
And while we understand the enthusiasm for baring it, we have to be careful not go overboard and maintain taste and style. Here we found some classy tops and useful advice for flashing some skin this spring/summer 2014.
1. Diversified Crop Tops
Don’t listen to the debates: crop tops will be relevant as as long as you do them right. For a playful twist, choose hippie-style, or bohemian-inspired crop tops for a different way of showing your tummy. This fringed lace cami by Free People is very Coachella while Carolina K’s smocked embroidered blouse is a very feminine way of cooling up the weekend in the city.
2. Classically Sheer
If you’re just feeling slightly adventurous, opt for classic-style tops but in their sheer version or with sheer paneling. A simple sleeveless blouse like this silk crepe top from Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent is immediately summer-relevant in sheer (maintain the classiness by wearing simple lingenrie). And Dolce Vita’s intricate lace white top although with long sleeves is actually risqué with its lace paneling on the entire front.

3. Back Flashes
According to some media studies, baring the back is actually more sexy than cleavages or tummies. Our holiday bellies couldn’t be happier. For this, we chose a simple, loose-fit halter top by Victoria Beckham which features a peek-a-boo behind, while a short-sleeved top from T by Alexander Wang offers a deep-V back with artful draping. Love.
