There’s no denying Katy Perry loves dressing to the theme and wearing over-the-top red-carpet outfits, having worn a pair of six-foot-high angel wings and a 40-pound chandelier at the 2018 and 2019 Met Gala, respectively.
This year, the 37-year-old singer gave us a timeless look with a barely-there dress that incorporated draping and lace detailing.

Oscar de la Renta designed her lacy one-shoulder gown with floral cut-out lace and sheer tulle opera gloves.
The outfit was styled around a silver metallic mini skirt with tulle draped across the gown for an eternal look, giving the illusion of a ‘barely there’ dress.

Ahead of the event, the American Idol judge teased her look for the Met Gala. She told Page Six she would “play a whole different card.”
“You know, it would be pretty obvious for me to go play the kooky, crazy, wild, big, fun, colorful card.”
“Maybe I’ll just come in a suit of armor or something. Maybe I’m not even going, because I’m going to send someone the armor and they’re just going to pretend to be me.”
It was indeed an unexpected look for Katy Perry, who famously previously wore a chandelier to the MET Gala.

Orlando Bloom’s girlfriend also kept a classic, understated beauty look. Hairstylist Rick Henry created a sleek center-parted chignon while makeup artist Michael Anthony simply enhanced her natural beauty with roseate smokey eye-makeup, bright blush, and nude lipstick.
“It’s a very pared-down, stripped back, and genuine approach that I think works so well with her dress and this year’s theme,” Michael Anthony told Vogue.
“I didn’t want or need to do much more than provide a radiant complexion to let her authentic beauty shine through,” he added.

With the help of her stylist Tatiana Waterford, the singer styled her classic look with Briony Raymond antique diamond earrings and a pair of Aquazzura So Nude PVC and leather sandals set upon 4-inch stiletto heels. You can find them in many colors at Shopbop and Farfetch.

One part of the night that Perry probably won’t want to remember is getting her open-toe sling-back stilettoes stuck in a grate when leaving for the event.

“Oh no, no!” Katy said while trying to free her heels. “Never a dull moment,” Derek later said in the video as he pans the camera towards himself.
