They’re finally back! Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively made a fabulous return to the red carpet for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic forced film festivals, awards shows and movie premieres to postpone, cancel or go virtual.

The internet’s favorite couple looked loved up as they posed together at the premiere of Ryan’s latest sci-fi action-comedy, Free Guy, which is set to be theatrically released on August 13.

Making an appearance on a special SiriusXM Town Hall with Jess Cagle earlier this month, Scarlett Johansson’s ex-husband was asked about the best thing about being married to Blake that the public wouldn’t expect.

“Wow…wouldn’t expect is the caveat that makes this a challenge,” he responded.

“I write on a lot of my movies. It’s been a survival mechanism for me for a long time. Sometimes I’m credited, sometimes I’m not. There are a lot of A++ writing that I’ve done that was actually Blake, that Blake would jump in, grab the keyboard and say ‘what about this?’ And I’d be like, ‘that’s incredible,’” he added.

“And you know, it’s funny. I don’t know. Maybe it’s cause there’s inherent sexism in the business. I will say that a lot of times ‘she wrote that, Blake wrote that, not me. That was her.’ And they still, later on, repeat the story as I wrote it. So she’s a really talented, multi-hyphenate kind of person in this weird burgoo of an entertainment industry that we work in. She’s helped me so much in Deadpool, all kinds of movies that have been big successes. She’s always got a lot of bricks in that wall,” he continued.

“Well, I mean, it is an obvious perk, which, uh, you know, not complaining about that or the sex,” Ryan joked when asked about Blake’s baked goods.

Directed by Shawn Levy, the film follows Guy (Ryan Reynolds), a bank teller who discovers that he is actually a background player in an open-world video game called Free City.

He then takes steps to become the hero of his own story, creating a race against time to save the game before the developers can shut it down.

Ryan looked handsome for the premiere in a beige corduroy Brunello Cucinelli suit with a black-and-white plaid shirt underneath. Staying in character, he wore a pair of specs and completed his outfit with gray socks and brown suede loafers.

Stealing his husband’s spotlight, Blake Lively wowed in her sparkling pink gown from Prabal Gurung’s Resort 2022 collection.

The Gossip Girl actress hadn’t stepped on the red carpet in over a year and did not disappoint in her stunning gown featuring bold geometric front and side cutouts, revealing her trimmed waist and ample cleavage.

Decked out in pink sequins, the floor-sweeping gown also has an open back and a crystal piping along the edges of the bodice to create more sparkle.

While she didn’t need anything else to stand out, the mom-of-three accessorized with mismatched earrings and several diamond rings.

Instead of wearing necklaces around her neck, Blake’s longtime hairstylist Rob Ortega decided to weave some Lorraine Schwartz diamond chain necklaces into her loose braided ponytail.

Celebrity makeup artist Kristofer Buckle highlighted the actress’ beautiful features with neutral makeup, including his Exposure bronzer and Bite Beauty’s Power Move soft matte lipstick in Tamarind and Fig.

Blake completed her red-carpet comeback look with Christian Louboutin “Benedetta” sandals, which she later swapped out for a pair of Converse sneakers.

Opting for comfort, The Shallows star shared with her Instagram followers a photo of her lifting her gown to reveal her high-top platform kicks.
