As Kirsten Dunst once put it, “I really wanted the MTV Award the most. It was a golden popcorn container, and it looks really neat.” Well, we feel the same way about these jaw-dropping shoes—they deserve their own moment in the spotlight!
Fast forward to 2025, and shoe trends have evolved in exciting ways. Some classic styles are making a comeback, while others feel like a distant memory. 1. Chloë Grace Moretz Stuns in Studded Jimmy Choo Pumps
The night’s Summer’s Biggest Teen Bad A** winner, Chloë Grace Moretz, looked youthful and playful in a denim patch dress from Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection.

She wore it with studded Jimmy Choo Spring 2013 pumps that feature t-straps and dainty bows. Her pumps are red carpet-worthy, but what do you think of the dress?

Here’s a similar shoe sans the t-strap:

2. Emma Watson Shines in Sleek Proenza Schouler Sandals
Emma Watson, honored with the prestigious Trailblazer Award, exuded effortless elegance in a Maxime Simoens Fall 2013 dress.

She completed her look with striking Proenza Schouler sandals, which featured intricate cutout details, lace-up fastening, and sculpted heels—adding a modern edge to her ensemble.

Here are Emma’s sandals in a different color:

3. Selena Gomez Glows in Glittery Jimmy Choo Pumps
Performing her new single, “Come and Get It,” in front of an audience for the first time, Selena Gomez ensured all eyes were on her when she stepped on the red carpet.

She looked gilded in a Julien Macdonald Fall 2013 fringe dress and was sparkling in glittery gold Jimmy Choo pumps.

The exact shoes are already sold out, but a similar version with multicolored glitters is still available at Farfetch:

4. Bella Thorne Steps into Sophistication in Emporio Armani Pumps
Trading her usual red-carpet floral frock attire for a more sophisticated suit by Emporio Armani, Bella Thorne seemed sophisticated and more mature than usual.

She wore a pair of pumps from the same brand to add some edge to her classic getup. Her shoes showcase a patent leather multi-strap design in metallic gold with mesh inserts.

5. Karlie Kloss Keeps It Chic in Gucci ‘Victoire’ Sandals
Showing off her abs in a midriff-baring Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2013 dress was Karlie Kloss, who was absolutely sleek and sexy. Everything in her ensemble was simple actually, but the way the model carried it was stunning.

She complemented her outfit with sandals from Gucci’s Spring 2013 collection. The oversized tonal buckle fastening added an extra edge to the all-white look.

6. Hana Mae Lee Goes Bold in Ferragamo Lace-Up Pumps
Hana Mae Lee, who won the Best Musical Moment award alongside her Pitch Perfect co-stars, turned heads with her daring ensemble.
Her all-black Marco Marco dress made a statement, but it was her bold cigarette butt headpiece that truly sparked conversation, adding an unexpected and edgy twist to her red carpet look.

A pair of Salvatore Ferragamo statement heels completed her dramatic all-black ensemble. These shoes have flirty crisscross lace-ups that wrap around the ankles. Their bold style will draw attention even if you wear them with simple clothes.

7. Holland Roden Edges Up the Carpet in Ruthie Davis Heels
Holland’s black Donna Karan Pre-Fall 2013 dress was both pretty and daring. Aside from this dress and her center-parted straightened hair, her Ruthie Davis Resort 2013 heels also caught my attention.

Her shoes went perfectly with the dress. Only the black and white colors are visible from the front, but the heel counters and the platforms also have metallic silver.

The combination of these colors is modern and definitely edgy. Just check out how they’re put together.

8. Kerry Washington Makes a Statement in Roger Vivier Pumps
Kerry Washington was one of the event’s presenters and was nominated for Best Kiss with Jamie Foxx for Django Unchained.
Although she lost to Jennifer Lawrence (with Bradley Cooper), Kerry Washington made sure she was eye-catching in a Michael Kors Fall 2013 high-low dress in a standout orange shade.

The dress, with a black long-sleeved top, is head-turning. It was, therefore, wise of Kerry to settle for a pair of simple but still classy pumps by Roger Vivier. They are made of satin and have the label’s signature buckle design.

9. Jordana Brewster Keeps It Sharp in Casadei ‘Blade’ Pumps
We’ve already seen several celebrities wearing Casadei’s Blade pumps. Jordana Brewster, one of the presenters at the awards show, wore the same pumps Zoe Saldaña took to the Film Independent Spirit Awards in February 2013.

The ‘Fast and the Furious’ actress wore her Casadei pumps with a pretty sleek white dress by Camilla and Marc. Her entire ensemble was both summery and sexy.

10. Kelley Jakle Keeps It Casual-Chic in Gold-T-Strap Sandals
Looking sexy and summery in yellow was Kelley Jakle. She paired a backless dress with brown sandals, whose prominent detail is a gold metal plate on each t-strap.

11. Zoe Saldaña Smolders in Jimmy Choo ‘Kalpa’ Sandals
One of the presenters for the night was Zoe Saldaña. She looked pretty chic in a Givenchy Fall 2013 floor-length skirt with a thigh-high slit that revealed her Jimmy Choo sandals.

We have not found the exact color she wore, but a similar style featuring gold crystals may be a nice alternative.

Here’s a similar-looking pair with gold crystals:

12. Snooki Adds Edge with Spiked Sam Edelman Pumps
Snooki never fails to look hot in public appearances, and at the MTV Movie Awards, she channeled a diva look in a sparkly gown with a thigh-high slit.

Instead of wearing dainty sandals, she chose a pair of tough-chic pumps by Sam Edelman. They are made of snakeskin and feature spikes and crystals at the heel counters down the 4 1/2-inch heels.

13. Caitlin Gerard Mixes Glam & Casual in Converse Sneakers
Now, here’s an actress who chose to mix two different styles in one look. Caitlin Gerard’s green lace dress is very dramatic. However, for some reason, the actress decided to pair the feminine piece with sneakers.

Her Chuck Taylors are something one would wear for casual affairs, yes? What could be going on in her mind here — experimenting, perhaps?

14. Carrie Keagan Brings Elegance in Giuseppe Zanotti Sandals
Carrie Keagan’s heels are a red carpet favorite, so seeing them at the MTV Movie Awards was not surprising.

Carrie made a sophisticated look out of her shoes, together with a sexy but clean and elegant white dress. The Giuseppe Zanotti heels are very luxe in appearance, especially with the gold plating at the heel counter.

15. Laura Marano Rocks the Red Carpet in Spiked Booties
Teen star Laura Marano looked chic in a graphic printed dress, which is on-trend. At 17, it seems like Laura already knows what looks good on her and what doesn’t.

Her black suede boots featuring studs at the heel counters perfected her dress, although more mature celebs will perhaps opt to wear pumps with it.

16. Molly Tarlov Embraces Pastel Glam in J. Crew ‘Etta’ Pumps
Molly Tarlov was pretty in a pink floral dress with black and white prints. To keep her ensemble charming in pastel, she wore the dress with J. Crew heels in pastel colors — pink and blue (close to purple).

The pumps were made of snakeskin material, which added fierceness to their girly silhouette and color combination.

17. Desi Lydic Strikes a Gothic-Chic Balance in Two-Tone Sandals
Desi Lydic looked gothic in a black lace dress, but the sandals she went for did not exactly match the rest of the ensemble. Black pumps or sandals would have been more appropriate.

Her black-and-nude sandals feature black butterfly-effect straps and black platforms. Can you identify them?

18. Alexis Knapp Turns Heads in Spiked Louboutin ‘Pigalle’ Pumps
Alexis Knapp was pretty in pink! She chose to parade a very youthful look completed with white Christian Louboutin pumps.

The ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress’ pumps feature spiked studs and razor-sharp stiletto heels measuring about 4 3/4 inches.

Here are her pumps, which are already sold out at Nordstrom.

19. Kylie Minogue Keeps It Classic in Black Louboutin Pumps
Kylie Minogue was one of the simplest and yet edgy stars of the night. She wore a Paco Rabanne chain dress in silver, black, and blue with sheer parts.

Because the dress is a little sci-fi-inspired, she completed the look with classic Christian Louboutin pumps in black for balance.

20. Bridgit Mendler Pops in Red Jean-Michel Cazabat Pumps
Disney star Bridgit Mendler has transformed into a pretty lady. She was a little sexy and playful in her Parker dress, which features a keyhole.

She paired her blue dress with red Jean-Michel Cazabat pumps. What do you think of the blue-red combination?
