Arguably this year’s most random celebrity couple, Avril Lavigne and Tyga sparked romance rumors after they were spotted hugging and leaving Nobu in the same car last month.
Sources close to Avril and Tyga told TMZ that they’ve been hanging out a lot, but neither Avril nor Tyga has admitted that they are dating.

On Monday, however, the two seemingly confirmed their relationship after they were pictured kissing, holding hands, and getting cozy at the Mugler x Hunter Schafer party during Paris Fashion Week – right in the city where Avril’s ex-fiancé Mod Sun proposed to her in March 2022.
A source told People: “Tyga and Avril are getting to know each other. It’s very new. It’s very casual.”
How Did Tyga and Avril Lavigne Meet?
No one saw it coming. Avril Lavigne dating rapper Tyga is probably the most random thing that has happened in Hollywood this year.
But while the unusual pairing took many by surprise, Tyga and Avril have reportedly been friends for years.
A US Weekly source said the two were “strictly platonic up until recently.” “Since they had already built a foundation of friendship, it was an organic transition to something more.”
The source added: “Avril and Tyga never imagined a romance would happen, and this was totally unexpected. They have no idea where things are going, but they’re enjoying spending time together. They have great chemistry.”

In addition, Avril and Tyga actually have some strange, complicated connections. One of which is that they both dated Jenner siblings.
Following her divorce from her first husband Deryck Whibley of the rock band Sum 41 in 2009, the Canadian singer began dating Brody Jenner (Kylie Jenner’s half-brother) in February 2010 but split two years later in January 2012.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles court documents obtained by TMZ, Tyga was reportedly married to Jordan Craig in September 2010, but they filed for divorce one month later.
At the time of their relationship, Jordan already has a two-year-old son with Tristan Thompson, Khloe Kardashian’s baby daddy.

Tyga later dated Blac Chyna from 2011 to 2014, and they have a son together, King Cairo.
Following their breakup, Tyga reportedly began a relationship with Kylie Jenner when she was just 16. They made their relationship official when she turned 18 but broke up two years later in April 2017.
After Tyga, Blac Chyna moved on with Kylie Jenner’s half-brother Rob Kardashian. She gave birth to their daughter in November 2016.

Another Kardashian-Jenner connection? Travis Barker, currently married to Kourtney Kardashian (the eldest of the Kardashian-Jenner siblings), frequently collaborates with Avril and Tyga.

Did Avril Lavigne Cheat on Mod Sun with Tyga?
Avril Lavigne and Tyga’s first sighting together came just two weeks after the Sk8er Boi hitmaker and her ex-fiancé rapper Mod Sun called it quits.
TMZ reported that Avril, who’s been open about her battle with Lyme disease, broke off the engagement days after Mod Sun kicked off his tour in support of his latest album God Save the Teen.

Apparently, Mod Sun was blindsided by their breakup. A rep for the rapper told Page Six: “They were together and engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour, so if anything has changed, that’s news to him.”
On the contrary, an insider told People, “Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months but are no longer together as a couple.”

Although the photos released by TMZ last month generated dating speculations, a source from People claimed that Tyga and Avril are “genuinely friends and nothing more” and that “there was no third party involved in the split.”
Mod Sun Breaks His Silence
Following the romance rumors between Tyga and Avril Lavigne, Mod Sun broke his silence, seemingly addressing the breakup on Instagram.
“In 1 week my entire life completely changed…I just know there’s a plan for it all. I’ll keep my head up + always listen to my heart, even when it feels broken,” he wrote along with a broken-heart emoji.
“Being surrounded by love every night on tour has been an absolute blessing. I have the best friends in the entire world, thanks for always having my back. See you on stage.”

As per reports, Mod Sun and Avril met through their mutual friend Machine Gun Kelly in 2020. The two began dating in January 2021 after the release of their collaborative song Flames, the third single off Mod Sun’s fourth studio album, Internet Killed the Rockstar.
A little over a year later, on March 27, 2022, in Paris, Mod Sun got down on one knee and asked for Avril’s hand in marriage. After a 10-month-long engagement, the couple has decided to end their relationship.
