Diane Kruger brought her signature European elegance to the press circuit as she promoted her debut children’s book, A Name from the Sky. It hit store shelves on October 25, 2022, and is available for purchase on Amazon.

Blending literature and fashion, the German actress made stylish appearances in New York City, turning each outing into a lesson in gothic glam and retro chic.

At 46, Kruger shared the inspiration behind her book—a story about self-discovery and the power of names—while making headlines for her striking wardrobe choices that featured brands like Jil Sander, Self-Portrait, Prada, and Bottega Veneta.

Gothic Glam: Jil Sander Dress & Kitten-Heeled Boots

Dropping by The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Diane opted for a gothic look in time for the Halloween festivities.

She donned a black Jil Sander Pre-Fall 2022 maxi dress, featuring a slinky black slip with a fuzzy netted overlay. The $1,290 wool-silk number skims Kruger’s slender figure and shows a glimpse of her cleavage.

Bold Accessories: Red Lip & Bottega Veneta Clutch

The mom-of-one draped a pinstriped blazer over her bold dress and paired the look with kitten-heeled boots and a large white Bottega Veneta “The Pouch” clutch.

The National Treasure star styled her gothic-chic outfit with diamond hoop earrings, a black fabric choker, and her engagement ring.

Beauty-wise, Diane wore a pop of vibrant red lipstick and let her blonde tresses fall loose around her shoulders in waves.

Retro Refinement: Self-Portrait Dress & Armani Bag

On Tuesday, the Troy actress visited the Today Show to talk about her new children’s book. Arriving at the studio, Diane looked every bit the movie star in a black Self-Portrait ensemble that showcased her toned legs.

She slipped into a black rib-knit mini dress that features bow embellishments just below the round neckline. It also boasts a ruffled hem, four front flap pockets with white accents, and long sleeves.

Keeping the look sleek, Diane layered her dress underneath a long-line houndstooth coat from the same contemporary luxury label. The $805 winter warmer is cut from two-toned houndstooth fabric and features a V-neckline and gold square buttons.

Guillaume Canet’s ex-wife opted for a simple look, skipping elaborate jewelry and carrying a small, black, structured Giorgio Armani Borgonuovo 11 handbag.

Cat-Eye Cool: Saint Laurent Shades & Prada Slingbacks

She then styled her tresses in tousled waves and applied soft pink makeup, including a matching pink lipstick and blush.

Adding a retro finish to the look, Diane accessorized with a pair of Saint Laurent “Victoire” white-framed cat-eye sunglasses. She then wore black ankle socks before slipping her feet into Prada’s slingback pumps.

Personal Touch: Diane Reveals Daughter’s Name

Diane Kruger gave birth to her first child with Norman Reedus in November 2018, but it wasn’t until three years later that the name of their daughter was revealed.

In an interview with People about her new book, A Name from the Sky, Diane opened up about how she and Norman, whom she met on the set of Sky, came up with their daughter’s name, Nova Tennessee.

“I had her late in life at 42, and [Norman] had a child when he was much younger,” she said. “’Nova’ in Latin means new beginning, and a nova star keeps changing and is reborn. And we love Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains; we do motorcycle trips there.”

She explained that she wanted to give her daughter a name that would empower her just like how her name, Diane, changed how she sees herself.

As a child, she was teased for her name, Diane, which was not a common name in Germany. “I remember coming home crying because kids were making fun of my name.”

But after her mother read her a book about the Roman goddess Diana, whom she was named after, she said, “it truly changed my life and how I see myself today.”
