Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are longtime Met Gala attendees. Reynolds is mainly known for attending with Lively, while she is remembered for some of the most iconic red carpet looks in recent history.
This year was no different for the couple who served as co-chairs of the fundraiser. Lively arrived in an on-theme gown that paid homage to the city of New York.

Her Atelier Versace dress had a stunning copper train. When she reached the top of the steps, she removed the gown’s bow to reveal the aqua side of her train, which represented the copper carbonate known as patina that has changed the Statue of Liberty’s color to what is seen now.
Her references to New York City didn’t stop there, though. Lively had art deco embroidery on her dress to symbolize the city’s architecture, and the ceiling of Grand Central Station inspired the stitching on her train.

And to top off her look, Lively wore a tiara, just as the Statue of Liberty does. The Shallows actress also wore her favorite Christian Louboutin ‘Marchavekel’ sandals.
“I thought instead of looking to fashion to influence the dress, I looked to New York City architecture and the classic buildings,” Blake said on the red carpet.

“The draping [represents] the Statue of Liberty, plus the crown which has seven tiers, the Statue Liberty has seven rays representing the sun’s rays and then also the seven seas and continents which represents welcomeness, inclusivity, and freedom,” she added about her collaboration with American jeweler Lorraine Schwartz.
“I sound like a Wikipedia page. — she has 25 windows so Lorraine [Schwartz] put 25 stones at the bottom, so they’re all New York City references.”
Reynolds accompanied his wife in a tuxedo, looking dapper as ever but certainly not stealing the show from Lively.

It wasn’t just Blake Lively’s role as Serena van der Woodsen on “Gossip Girl” that cemented her red carpet status.
While we loved watching Blake’s character come of age on the cult favorite CW show, we also fell in love with Blake herself as she nailed one red carpet look after another.

And, as if those two things aren’t enough reason to love Blake, we’re also envious of her friendship with Mr. Christian Louboutin himself.
Even though she’s very comfortable with Louboutin, sometimes, she isn’t quite so friendly with his gorgeous creations.

In July 2016, Blake let us in on an industry secret at the New York premiere of “Cafe Society,” sharing with everyone how she manages to walk in high heels.
Blake skillfully hid her growing baby bump with a short Carolina Herrera dress. The piece was cinched with a wide band under the chest line and slightly billowed into a tulip skirt.
Penn Badgley’s ex-girlfriend added a bit of glam to her look with jewelry pieces from Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira Jewels.
Of course, the shoes in question were the “Rivierina” pumps from Christian Louboutin.

Blake proved that she doesn’t have superpowers when wearing her sky-high Louboutins the entire night.
Blake said she “put them on two seconds before [she got] out of the car” and will “take them off two seconds after getting inside” the venue.
After hearing Blake’s hilarious tip on how she wears her heels, you can check out the sky-high Christian Louboutin “Rivierina” pumps at Nordstrom, Ssense, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Mytheresa.
