Have you ever compared the number on the sole of your shoe to that of your friends?
Not that women need yet another thing to be self-conscious about, but — likely thanks to Cinderella’s size 4.5 glass slippers — small feet have become a standard for beauty and femininity.
However, Disney princess-sized feet are quickly becoming a relic of the past. Thanks to evolution, the average foot size has been steadily increasing throughout the past century.

“At the beginning of the 20th century, the average woman wore a size 3.5 or size 4 shoe,” TIME Magazine reports. “This increased to a 5.5 in the ’40s and remained this way till the ’60s. By the 1970s, the average female foot was a 7.5 and now, forty years later, the most common foot size for the American female is somewhere between 8 ½ and a 9.”
So, the increasing need for retailers to manufacture larger and larger shoe sizes, year after year? It’s just biology.
“People are getting taller and heavier, as they have for generation after generation,” podiatric historian William Rossi told lifestyle blog Divine Caroline. “And their feet are getting larger in proportion to their bodies.”
So, if you have feet in the double-digit size range — or close to it — you’re not alone. Shoe retailers like Nordstrom and Zappos carry women’s shoes all the way up to a size 16, which shows there’s a large demand for large sizes.

1. Kendall Jenner – Shoe Size 10 (US)
Kendall Jenner may be one of today’s hottest models, but she’s also one of the favorite topics of internet criticism. People have always criticized her long toes, with many describing them as “weird.”
“Yeah, it’s kind of painful! I’ll be honest, she told ELLE about being uncomfortable in high heels. “I have the longest toes in the world; they’re spider toes. They are. I have spider fingers, too! So they’re kind of being crunched right now…”

Take, for example, her April 2022 Instagram photo that was met with ridicule.
While she looked stunning in a Loewe blur print tank dress and Dries Van Noten platform thong sandals, her sisters Kylie and Khloe both made fun of her ‘big toes’ in comments underneath the post.

“Hahahaha even from me??? I love your big ass toes,” Khloe commented after Kendall threatened to block people making fun of her big feet.
Despite all the criticism, Kendall has remained unfazed and never shied away from wearing sandals. Her shoe size shouldn’t be surprising because Kendall is a whopping 5’10” tall.

2. Khloe Kardashian – Shoe Size 10 (US)
Khloe is another member of the Kardashian-Jenner family that’s known to have big feet.

Like Kendall, she’s also a size ten but stands less than an inch shorter than her model half-sister.
In February 2021, Khloe explained why her feet often look enormous in Good American campaign photos.
“HA I’m cracking up! 4a few of those GA photos, we shot on a camera lens that creates a stretching effect. The closer the object is to camera they will get elongated,” Khloe said.

3. Heidi Klum – Shoe Size 11 (US)
Heidi Klum has some of the sexiest feet in the industry. She’s almost 5’10” tall and wears a size 11.

The German model spilled her stiletto-wearing secrets to Fitness Magazine. Heidi said she wears foot cushions to ease the pain when she needs to be on her feet between 10 and 14 hours a day.

She also pampers her feet by getting a lot of manicures and pedicures.
“I always think it’s important to have beautiful hands and beautiful feet,” she said. “You just never know what shoe they’re going to give you and then you have to take your shoes off and they’re like ‘Oh my god!’ You know, in my business, hands, and feet always have to look good.”

4. Cindy Crawford – Shoe Size 10 (US)
Thanks to her height and famed athletic build, Cindy Crawford is among the most famous models ever.

“I found this bizarre, unofficial Mandy Moore book (while rummaging through old memorabilia],” she told Jimmy Kimmel. “It’s an actual book that was for sale for $12.95 that someone wrote without me knowing about it, but it has lots of fun facts. Freida Pinto, known for her role in “Slumdog Millionaire,” is only 5’5”, but she wears a size 10.5 shoe.
Freida said she struggled to find shoes growing up because her home country of India only catered to women with small shoe sizes.

Did you know film and fashion icon Audrey Hepburn had a larger-than-average shoe size. Given what we said earlier about the average woman’s shoe size increasing with time, it’s a surprise that this film star, born in the 1920s, wore a size 10.5.

Despite being a woman of unmatched beauty, Audrey actually didn’t have much confidence in her looks.
