At just 5ft 1 ½ (156.2 cm), Reese Witherspoon embraces her petite stature with confidence. While she often jokes about her height in interviews, her impeccable sense of style ensures she always stands tall—especially in her favorite designer heels. She wears a US size 6.5 (EU 37), which is smaller than the average women’s shoe size in the United States (US 8.5).

Stepping in Style: Reese Witherspoon’s Iconic Shoe Moments
Reese Witherspoon’s footwear choices consistently showcase her impeccable sense of style, effortlessly blending elegance with contemporary trends. Here are some of her most memorable designer heel moments:
- Mary Katrantzou x Gianvito Rossi: While shopping in Los Angeles, Reese elevated her casual ensemble with floral-printed pumps from the Mary Katrantzou and Gianvito Rossi collaboration, adding a vibrant touch to her look.
- Christian Louboutin: At the 2017 Golden Globe Awards, Reese embodied classic Hollywood glamour in a gilded dress paired with Christian Louboutin sandals, showcasing her affinity for timeless elegance.
- Fendi: Attending the Fendi Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2024 show in Paris, Reese donned a black wool dress complemented by Fendi’s Vitello leather slingback pumps, exemplifying her penchant for sophisticated monochromatic ensembles.
- Jimmy Choo: Honoring Nicole Kidman at the AFI Gala, Reese opted for a black Elie Saab dress paired with Jimmy Choo heels, balancing modern chic and classic sophistication.
These selections highlight Reese’s ability to seamlessly integrate high-fashion footwear into her wardrobe, reflecting her evolving style and timeless influence in fashion.

“Standing Tall: Overcoming Challenges in Hollywood
“When I first came here [to LA], all I heard was, ‘No, not right-not tall enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough,’” she told The Daily Mail about struggling as a short actress. “But I didn’t really care about their opinions. I’m stubborn.”
Filming Four Christmases opposite Vince Vaughn, who measures 6ft 5 (195.6 cm), she did everything she could to look taller.
“I stood on a lot of boxes and they had to build ramps that were about the same size as where I should be,” Reese said while promoting the 2008 American Christmas comedy film.
“It was a challenge, especially the kissing scenes…And he had to pick me up for half the dancing. He’s actually holding me in the air so we can stay in the same frame.”

Riding High: Navigating Challenges on Set
Reese also discussed her height when promoting the 2006 British-American fantasy romantic comedy Penelope, in which she rides a black LX50 Vespa scooter bike.
“Because I’m ‘height challenged,’ my feet couldn’t touch the ground and they tried to lower it as low as they possibly could, and my feet still couldn’t touch the ground on it,” she told Seventeen. “So we had to put it on a rig.”

“I’m only 5ft 1in and sounding like I could take on an evil alien was actually the hardest part of the movie for me – you know, trying to talk like that,” Reese admitted about voicing Susan Murphy / Ginormica in the 2009 American 3D computer-animated monster comedy film Monsters vs. Aliens in an interview with WalesOnline.
“They kept on saying, ‘Be more like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone’ and I couldn’t do it. I sounded like a robot!”

While Reese likes to look taller, she does not recommend platform shoes.
“Stay clear of big, heavy, clunky platform shoes. They may add 5 inches to you, but they immediately pull you down because it looks like you’re wearing tires on your feet,” she said in an interview.
Reese Witherspoon Defies Fall With Summery Balenciaga Dress and Christian Louboutin Sandals
In October 2015, Reese Witherspoon kept things summery and looked much taller than usual at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The then-39-year-old Pleasantville actress, one of the event’s presenters, seemingly ignored the fall calendar when she dressed for the luncheon.

She opted to wear a light pink floral jacquard Balenciaga dress featuring black feathery embellishments.

Reese wore minimal accessories and added a few inches to her petite frame with strappy black sandals.

She wore her blown-out blonde locks in loose waves and kept her makeup soft using pink hues and shimmering eye shadow.

Reese’s sandals are the Christian Louboutin “Benedetta” from the designer’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection. These patent leather strappy heels feature T-straps, adjustable ankle-wrap straps, crisscross front straps, and 4.7-inch heels.

Previously spotted on Amanda Seyfried, the popular Benedetta sandals are no longer available online.
