In January 2024, Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, prominent figures in country music, finalized their divorce after five years of marriage.
The couple, who first met while co-writing a song for Tim McGraw, started dating in 2015 and married in 2018. They welcomed their son Hayes in 2020.

Maren filed for divorce from Ryan, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Their separation date is listed as October 2, 2023. Reports indicate Ryan was surprised by Maren’s decision. Despite their attempts to work through issues in their marriage, their differences made the relationship challenging.
Before their split, Maren announced her plans to leave country music and released “The Bridge” EP, which Ryan publicly supported. The divorce was finalized on January 30, 2024. Although Maren is Hayes’s primary parent, they will share custody equally. The couple reunited to celebrate Halloween with their son shortly after the filing.

Maren Morris grew up in Arlington, Texas, and found a love for singing when performing karaoke.
The singer soon transformed into a songwriter, and at just 20 years old, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to seek a career in country music after receiving reassurance from her friend Kacey Musgraves, also a country superstar.

Their relationship progressed steadily, and in 2018, Hurd and Morris became husband and wife in a ceremony in Nashville, the town they both call home.

After just a couple of years of marriage, Morris became pregnant, and just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she gave birth to their first child.
“(All my songs) are special to me, but the one that is so new is motherhood. There’s a song on my record called, ‘Hummingbird,’ and it’s about my son, Hayes,” Maren shared at the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards.
“It’s a special one to me because I wrote it the day that I found out I was pregnant. We’re finally putting it out and he’s two this month. It’s a really special one…. It’s gonna be a tearjerker if I can even sing it live.”
