Each style of running shoe is made with a different focus and performance ability in mind.

If you’re starting with running, then you won’t be wearing the same shoes as someone training for a marathon.

When buying running shoes, the first thing you need to do is figure out your feet type.

You can do this by stepping your foot into the water and looking at your footprint.

If your footprint is flat, you have a pronated foot. You will need to look for running shoes that offer stability to your arch.

If your pronators are more severe and you need more support, or if you have a larger body mass, you want to look for shoes with motion control technology.

You can typically spot these shoes by their heavier material and rubber soles.

When your footprint is missing the inside section of your foot, this is how you know that you have supinated feet.

You’ll want to look for running shoes that are cushioned to give you as much support as possible.

This style of athletic shoe will take the most wear and tear of any type. You must monitor the condition of your shoes to make sure you’re getting the best support.

When should I replace my running shoes?

You should replace your shoes after at least every 500 miles of running. Work out how much running you do per week and use it to work out your general timeframe.
