2018 SAG Awards: 7 Best Shoes of the Red Carpet

Every event has celebrities that command attention, whether it’s their personalities or ensembles that steal the spotlight.

We decided to take a break from the well-adored A-listers and focus on some of the more subdued celebs of recent events — and their shoes.

From Alison Brie of “GLOW” to Sarah Sutherland of “Veep,” we’re featuring seven celebrities — and their shoes — that we think deserve more attention as of late.

1. Alison Brie in Jimmy Choo

Alison Brie of Netflix’s “GLOW” turned heads thanks to both her arm candy and her ensemble. The actress — who arrived on the red carpet with husband Dave Franco — stepped out in an interesting dress by Dundas, which married a sequined strip with beautiful red fabric.

Quite a rebel on the carpet, Alison contrasted her dress with a pair of purple Jimmy Choo platform sandals. We love the height of the platforms and length they created. A curious white strip lined the delicate ankle strap.

Irene Neuwirth jewelry and a Jimmy Choo clutch finished her look.

2. Frances McDormand in retro-print sandals

Frances McDormand may have won big at the SAG Awards — taking home the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” — but her shoes were the actual silent winner.

As the actress was getting off the stage, she lifted her dress to reveal a pair of funky retro print pumps. While the shoes may raise some eyebrows, we love that Frances was spunky enough to conceal such a crazy pair underneath her feminine dress.

3. Jessica Pimentel in knotted platform sandals

Little known to the fashion circles, Jessica Pimentel had a crazy secret the night of the SAG Awards: her dress was fully encrusted with black diamonds. The Malan Breton dress was inspired by the indigenous people of Taiwan and costs a whopping $1.2 million. Whew. That’s a lot to process.

Compared to her dress, her shoes pale in price but are still quite noteworthy. The “Orange Is the New Black” actress kept her footwear simple yet elegant with a knotted platform sandal with a metallic heel.

Jewelry from Narcisa Pheres, DVANI by A&G Gem and Djula finished her million-dollar look.

4. Madeline Brewer in Casadei crossover strap sandals

Madeline Brewer opted to wear a favorite from the Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2018 collection, and absolutely did the piece justice with her auburn hair and pale skin. Just darling.

Touches of red added some oomph to the look. Madeline picked out a pair of Casadei crossover sandals made from 50 percent satin and 50 percent velvet. The lining and sole are mode from genuine leather.

Bold red lips and Stefere jewelry finished Madeline’s dreamy look.

5. Molly Sims in Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” sandals

Not another pair of Stuart Weitzman “Nudist” sandals! We know, we know — we’ve all seen this shoe tirelessly over the past several years. But, hear us out this once: is that a beautiful shade of violet or what? We usually spot neutrals and “safe” colorways of this shoe on the red carpet, so when we see a unique color, we have to point it out.

We love these shoes on Molly Sims, but have to wish her dress didn’t look so crazy. Not only did her Greta Constantine dress complement the SAG Awards trophy a little too well, but the whole thing was just wrong from top-to-bottom. An unflattering silhouette and a less-than-graceful color combination get the thumbs down from us.

We still love her “Nudist” sandals, though, which you can purchase at Amazon.

6. Sarah Sutherland in Giuseppe Zanotti “Lavinia”sandals

Hollywood celebrities made a powerful statement at the Golden Globes by wearing all-black in conjunction with the “Time’s Up” advocacy, but actress Sarah Sutherland may have missed a memo. Everyone — including “Time’s Up” founder Reese Witherspoon — opted for pops of colors on the carpet while Sarah went for black.

Of course, there’s always that possibility that she just wanted to wear black. The actress stepped out on the carpet in an off-shoulder long gown that didn’t really do much for her figure.

Luckily, her shoe-of-choice was quite interesting. Sarah added some glam to her look with the iconic gold Giuseppe Zanotti “Lavinia” sandals.

7. Susan Kelechi Watson in Nicholas Kirkwood “Zaha” sandals

Last but certainly not the least, “This Is Us” actress Susan Kelechi Watson schooled us on some classic glam. With a stellar blue dress and a pair of glitter sandals, how can one go wrong?

The actress wore a strapless creation by Russian-American fashion designer Rubin Singer. The dress showed off a beautiful asymmetrical neckline and a gathered skirt.

Susan wore the hot Nicholas Kirkwood “Zaha” sandals, which were inspired by the late architect Zaha Hadid.

A Tyler Ellis clutch and AP Monaco jewels finished the actress’ look.
