From the Directors Guild Awards to the Art Director Guild Awards, a lot happened during the past weekend. But the industry’s brightest stars were out in full force at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday for the 76th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).
The 2023 ceremony was attended by some of this year’s most prominent nominees, including Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Ana de Armas, and some notable guests, like Lily James and the Prince and Princess of Wales, all clad in glamorous designer looks.
From Julianne Moore’s ‘70s feathered look and Anya Taylor-Joy’s trendy hooded dress to Cynthia Erivos’ metallic gown, let’s take a look at some of the most interesting outfits at the 2023 BAFTAs red carpet, dubbed as the British Oscars.
1. Julianne Moore in Saint Laurent
Celebrity stylist Kate Young gave the otherwise very simple column dress a touch of ‘70s flair with the addition of the white feathered stole draped over her arms.

To further elevate the look, the Hunger Games star wore an ornate Bulgari Serpenti necklace and a set of brilliant diamond stud earrings.
The Hollywood royalty completed her red-carpet appearance with a side-parted wavy hairstyle, care of hairstylist Marcus Francis, and a glamorous makeup look, with red lipstick and smokey eyeshadow created by makeup artist Kay Montano.

2. Jodie Turner-Smith in Gucci
While the sheer neckline and the metallic sequined panels were enough to draw attention, the addition of the cascading ombre feather embellishments made the ensemble even more eye-catching.

Kudos to styling duo Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald for creating Turner-Smith’s striking red-carpet look, which was further enhanced with statement Chopard jewelry.
She wore a choker necklace with diamonds, heart-shaped Tanzanites, and Paraiba tourmaline set in titanium and white gold, as well as a matching pair of stud earrings.
The dramatic look didn’t stop there as makeup artist Joey Choy gave Jodie some trendy crystal freckles, metallic winged eyeliner, and lilac eyeshadow to complement her dress.

A modern take on red carpet dressing, Yeoh put on a sophisticated display in a pair of tailored trousers and a matching double-breasted blazer that had tucked shoulders, silk lapels, and modern cape-like sleeves.

The look, which was styled with Moussaieff high jewelry natural Burma ruby and diamond earrings, a natural pink sapphire bangle, a rare natural Burma pink sapphire ring, and a Richard Mille watch, was curated by her stylist Jordan Johnson Chung.
Michelle Yeoh then slipped her feet into a pair of metallic Dior peep-toe pumps set on thin stiletto heels.
Hairstylist Earl Simms straightened the actress’ dark tresses, while makeup artist Polly Osmond used La Mer skin care products to give her a radiant look.

Specially designed for the Don’t Worry Darling star by Harris Reed, the bright orange tulle gown featured a ruched bodycon fit with voluminous pleats and ruffles on the bodice and a floor-sweeping mermaid-style hem.

The Little Drummer Girl actress’ glam perfectly complemented her outfit. 6. Catherine Zeta-Jones in Tony Ward
She has been accompanying her husband Michael Douglas during the promotional tour for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. But on Sunday, Catherine Zeta-Jones was pictured slaying the BAFTAs red carpet solo.
Proving age is just a number, the 53-year-old actress put her curves on display in a sheer gown embellished with purple and yellow glittering beads from Tony Ward’s Spring 2023 Couture collection.
The one-shoulder design and the diagonal slit across the chest furthered the sexy element of her striking gown, while the yellow organza cape that flowed into a sweeping train provided an extra dose of glamour to the look.

Making a dramatic red carpet arrival was Anya Taylor-Joy, who showed up in a champagne liquid velvet ensemble designed by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli’s Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture collection.
Showing off a leggy look, The Menu star’s outfit included a structured, strapless bustier mini dress with corset lacing, embroidered satin bows, and a thigh-skimming hem.
It was worn with an enormous corolla-effect stole, which was draped to the floor like a train and worn over her head like a hood, a trend seen frequently on the red carpet this season.

8. Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton
Cynthia Erivo was the epitome of glitz and glamour, gracing the red carpet in a custom copper gown by Louis Vuitton.
The striking dress, which featured embellished fringes, a high neck, and a structured one-shoulder design, reportedly took a total of 1,080 hours to assemble and hand embroider with about 20,000 rectangular sequins.
“I loved the deep bronze metallic color. Each slide of bronze was individually stitched on, and the entire dress was fitted to a tee,” she told Elle UK ahead of the ceremony.

The futuristic gown also had a floor-sweeping skirt with a train that trailed behind her, obscuring her heels.
Injecting the Wicked star’s signature edge to the glamorous outfit, stylist Jason Bolden styled her evening look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The selection included thick bangles on her right wrist, a few diamond rings, multiple earrings, and a nose ring.
She then carried a golden clutch and completed her look with lashings of bronze makeup, mascara, and dark red lip color.

Designed by Pieter Mulier, Rosie’s outfit featured a form-fitting sheer bodysuit with a high neck and long sleeves. It was tucked into a black velvet draped skirt with a short train and daring scalloped cutouts down the center that showed a glimpse of her thighs.
