Trend Report Fall 2012: New Sleek and Sexy Velvet Shoes

So fall is just around the corner and very predictably, VELVET is back in trend again.

Velvet is usually luxe, glam and rich to the point of being stuffy but this year, it’s surprisingly taken this whole new sleekness. I can’t say the same thing about velvet clothes but velvet certainly has gotten a lot more sexy in SHOES.

We still have the princess-y velvet shoe styles like this ‘Imagine’ that sandal from Chinese Laundry but its slim straps and thin bows help cut down the poofiness.

But check out this ‘Romania’ sandal from Promise — we’ve always found the two-band sandal of summer incredibly sexy and velvet has made the style wearable all the way into early fall.

Now how about this t-strap from Burberry? So sexy!

Michael Antonio mixes velvet up with a bit of glitter for a holiday party-ready shoe.

Pierre Hardy makes velvet a bit more fun with some interesting color mixes.

And as always, Jimmy Choo SLAYS everyone by using velvet on one of their successful strappy evening sandal styles.

So far from the lavish, cumbersome and heavy velvet that we often see, right?
