Two years after co-starring with Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, Emily Blunt makes her big-screen comeback in Christopher Nolan’s epic biographical drama Oppenheimer as a botanist, biologist, and communist activist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer.

Oppenheimer is slated for release on July 21, the same day as Barbie. However, unlike the latter, which has produced an array of bright, candy-colored outfits, the Oppenheimer press tour has delivered dramatic looks that veered more toward the dark side.

London Premiere: Daring Black Diamond

Blunt, for instance, opted for head-to-toe black that showcased her glamorous style sense during the London premiere of her new movie.

The 40-year-old actress made a sensational appearance at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square wearing a dazzling gown covered in glimmering bugle beads.

It featured a daring abstract-shaped cutout bodice with structured shoulders and an open back, orchid embroidery in white and silver bugle beads on the left hip, and a beaded fringed skirt that showed a glimpse of her flawless pins.

Stylist Jessica Paster, whose clients include Miranda Kerr, Aubrey Plaza, Nicole Scherzinger, and more, selected the stunning piece from Alexander McQueen’s Fall 2023 collection.

“With Oppenheimer being a period piece set in between the ‘40s and ‘50s, the minute I saw this gorgeous creation, it inspired me,” Paster told Vogue. “I love the fringe and the cut of the dress, the bugle beads and the shoulder, which gives me nostalgia for that period.”

Blunt agreed, saying, “I loved the nostalgia and modernity of this stunning creation. I gasped when I first saw it.”

Paster styled Blunt’s incredible look with a matching McQueen Knuckle clutch and a pair of Manolo Blahnik “Chaos” sandals that boosted her height by several inches.

Giving the look extra sparkles, Blunt further accessorized with brilliant emerald and diamond Lorraine Schwartz drop earrings and statement rings.

Her shoulder-length golden locks were swept away from her beautiful face in gentle waves with retro-style clipped-back fringe by Laini Reeves. She then wore a warm makeup palette with lashings of mascara and peachy lipstick and blush, created by Jenn Streicher.

Photocall Power: Gleaming in Copper

At the London photocall of Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt was extra glitzy in a dazzling copper suit by Dolce & Gabbana.

She wore a glamorous boss lady look in the menswear-inspired silhouette with bold shoulders, wide lapels, and matching ankle-length trousers.

Keeping the focus on her shimmering power suit, Emily went bareneck and added a pair of Zydo Italy earrings, a few rings, and a nude pair of Manolo Blahnik “Chaos” sandals to her look.

She worked with the same glam team, accentuating her gorgeous features with nude makeup and face-framing soft beach waves.

Parisian Dream: Retro Green Grace

On Tuesday, Emily flew to Paris to attend the Paris premiere of Oppenheimer held at the Cinema Le Grand Rex.

For the occasion, the A Quiet Place star dressed modestly in a mint green retro-style dress in line with the 1940s setting of the film.

Cut from shiny satin fabric, her rather unassuming dress featured a spread collar, dramatic padded shoulders, long sleeves, and a fitted bodice that flowed into a draped, gathered ankle-length skirt.

Despite its vintage design, the dress was actually a Resort 2024 creation by Balmain, selected by celebrity stylist Jessica Paster for Blunt.

The Sicario star enhanced her appearance further with a range of diamond-studded jewelry, including several rings and a $9,350 pair of Pave Diamond Zipper Drop earrings by Anita Ko.

Adding more sheen to the look were her Malone Souliers “Maureen” mules in mirror metallic silver and gold leather.

She then styled her gold tresses in retro curls and wore mascara with pink lipstick.

What Is Oppenheimer About?

Oppenheimer is a 2023 epic biographical thriller film based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.

Written, produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan, the movie centers on theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, portrayed by Cillian Murphy, a key figure in the development of the first nuclear weapons on the Manhattan Project.

The movie also stars Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, and Matt Damon as Leslie Groves, the Manhattan Project director who appointed Oppenheimer to head the creation of the world’s first atomic bomb.

At the London premiere of the historical film, Downey declared that Oppenheimer is the best film he’s been in.

“Just going to flat out say it: This is the best film I’ve ever been in. I cannot wait for you all to experience it.”

Emily Blunt To Take a Break from Movies

During a recent appearance on the Table for Two podcast, released last week, Emily Blunt shocked fans after revealing she’s taking a break from acting this year.

The Devil Wears Prada actress admitted that juggling her job and motherhood is “not always well.”

“It’s one of those things when people are like, ‘How do you balance it?’ I never feel like I’m doing it right, you know. But this year I’m not working.”

“I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is nine, so we’re in the last year of single digits,” she explained. “And I just feel [like] there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little.”

“And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones.”

Blunt and her husband of 13 years, actor John Krasinski, have two daughters, one born in 2014 and the other in 2016.
